I picked up a few Lethrinops sp. "Deep Orange Nkhata Bay" juvies from our last trip to Atlantis. What I like about these Lethrinops is their dorsal and tail coloration.

I don't see the deep orange in the picture. Are you sure it's the right species? Are you sure there is a picture? LOL!

Peter had the breeders down by the next to last aisle. The juvies were down the aisle to the right of the tables.
The picture came courtesy of cichlids.com...and it is not my fish.

i currently have a pair of the black fins.. male has a deformed eye from battle but still looks amazing..

These have been one of my favorites lately. lost my wild pair recently but had one batch of fry so hopefully I get a good group out of them. I find them to be very shy

Red Caps are just awesome... It's a good thing the florida pond breeders (specificaly Old World Exotic) are mass breeding them for the hobby...

Check out this video.... It shows a nice adult male: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBzITgFz1JQ&fmt=18

BY THE WAY...Bill did you know CF has a profile showing lots of pics of wild caught males? http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=2524 That's a beautiful species Bill... I can't wait to see what yours look like as adults... Are you putting them in a species only tank?

Right now they are in a 55g with a few Sulfurhead Peacock that are also growing out.
But all of this could change by Auction Day!

The male is a dynamite little bugger.
A lot of personality for such young fish.
Tom, have you bred these before?

AlishanAS

No Bill. Still growing them out. Males are coloring up at 2.5"

I have to revive this thread after todays happenings...

Today Tom gave me a female to go along with my male. The male grew a bit in a 55g, then was moved for a few months into a 125g and now is in a 40g.
Four hours later and the female that Tom gave me is holding.
Thanks for prepping her Tom!

I could definitely see Lethrinops being as collectible for me as Cynotilapia - only one problem, can't keep more than one species per tank. DOH!

Great looking fish those Orange's are!
