I noticed small black spots on the under side of all my mbuna the other day. Did a quick search online and figured it was a parasite. I am dosing tank with copper safe and was just wondering if anyone has been through this and how they made out.

No idea... Must you treat the whole tank? Is there a quarantine available.. would make it easier and cheaper

As Afreakin alluded to, some wild caught fish can have what I believe is called black spot disease. Apparently it is a harmless parasite that causes no adverse affects. I've also read it can be on some pond raised fish. I had some wild elongatus that had it, and they always acted normal. I remember also reading, but I forget where, that an excess of spirulina in the diet can cause the black spots. I did have a few healthy Jalo Reef Afra fry that had a couple of spots, and I tended to feed more spirulina to them when young. I cut down on it, and they seemed to clear up. Coincidence perhaps, but just my observations.

No none of my fish are wild caught. I've been feeding them New Life Spectrum forever.

My pond-raised (Florida) estherae had it. Took a loooooong time to go away, but they seemed fine and are in their sixth year with me. I treated with Prazipro but no effect.
