Just thought i would share. I purchased one of the Emperor 400 filters that were on sale the other day. I figured for that price it was worth replacing my old 400 as on the occasion it makes a little noise and i have to play around to quiet it up ( it's in my bedroom so quiet is important)
So long story short got the new filters (in like two days great shipping)
set it up and it is noooiiisssyyyy.... i tried every thing i could think of and nothing worked. i emailed marineland a couple of times but the response had nothing to do with my issue so i called them. I thought it was going to be a battle trying to get them to help. I said my filter is brand new and is extremely noisy. The rep said ok sir i can send you a new impeller and housing... No questions no trouble shooting no nothing. I want to believe that they are just amazing with customer service...but the cynical side of wonders has this been a recent issue and thats why they are so quick to replace...? Either way i was impressed with the ease of the situation and look forward to sleeping well at night again.
Thought i would share

Gil, over 10 years ago I had the same issue, I called Marineland and received an impeller days later in the mail.
It's definitely an issue that Marineland knows about.

I used to be a huge Marineland fan. everything I owned was Marineland. 2 emp 400,5-6 smaller filters of difference sizes, all stealth heaters.well as things went bad as they do.I started to replace them and immediately i saw there was a quality difference. So i called up and complained.I was informed that they are outsourcing alot of there products :mad2: And that is why they have a no mus no fuss attitude on fixing or replacing there products. Now I'm not saying they have a bad product. Its just the quality control is not what it used to be(that strait from the rep I spoke to) and more gets buy then they would like.

I have 2 Emperor 400 filters and one that is half the size (350?). The older ones have always been quiet. But my newest 400 (2 years old) is noisy and it comes from the impeller area. Noisy but it still runs fine.

Thanks for the info, I thought I just had to live with it.

I just got two 400s last week. So far, they are quiet. The only thing that I didn't like is that the new one's don't have a flow adjuster like the one's that I have had for the last 15 years.
