Went down to 'That Fish Place' today, bought a lot of plants for the tank.
I wanted some nice specimen plants and the guy recommended 'Brazilian Swords' and so I bought 2.
Turns out that they are peace lillies, a common house plant. I knew that many common house plants like dracena were offered as aquarium plants by the big chain stores or unknowledgeable small outfits, but I'm concerned I was sold a soon to be rotten and polluting the tank houseplant by an aquatic specialist shop.
So, does this actually work in the aquarium or was I sold a dud?

Are you sure your plant is a peace lily and not a spathiphyllum tasson?
The peace lily is a houseplant. Spathiphyllum tasson is an aquarium plant. They look similar but are different.

I've been trawling the internet and it's saying spathiphyllum tasson is the peace lilly, or that it isn't but that tasson isn't an aquarium plant but suitable for a terrarium.
"Brazilian Swords, like other larger swords, work best as background plants due to the wide area they will encompass as they grow. Outside of the aquarium community, these plants are known and sold as "Peace Lilies" and can, in fact, be grown out of the water."
From TFP/TPP website...
And from the same website...
"The Brazilian Sword (Spathiphyllum tasson) is a popular aquarium plant, but is perhaps more popular under a different common name - the Peace Lily. They have dark green elliptical leaves and develop large white flowers. These plants soared to popularity as the plant that tops many betta bowls. They grow very well with only their roots in the water and their leaves growing above the bowl. Brazilian Swords are true terrarium plants rather than aquarium plants and will not survive long if completely submerged."
So, it's conflicting but I'm none to hopeful about these plants lasting. It's annoying but only $8s I suppose. Just thought a place as specialized as TFP/TPP would not be selling houseplants as aquarium plants, I expect that sort of thing from Petsmart or Petco...

Not to put too fine a point on it, but they did say on their website that it won't survive submerged... It usually also says that on the tag that comes with the plant, assuming is supplied by Florida Aquatic Nurseries.

I was not online, I was in the shop, with an assistant and had asked him to lead me in my choices. I had asked him if he was knowledgeable in regards to plants as I wanted plants that would definitely last in my set up.
There was no tag, it was in a tank of water, named as a 'Brazilian sword plant' and presented as an aquatic plant.
I was quoting their website to show that it presents contrary information on two different pages of the site.
