As you all know these fish can be nasty. I had just put one one of my flavus females back in the main tank and the other one kicked her but really bad. She pretty much has no tail left and fins are pretty ripped up. I moved her into a tank with some fry and she is doing well(didn't think she would make it at first). My point is how many of u have stories of fish that u thought would never make it and did. She is one tuff fish!!! I will take a pic tonight and post it and when she is all better take one as well to see the difference. Some are so fragile and some can really take a beating.

I hear you completely. Aggression is one reason why there are certain species that I dont keep anymore. You almost have to have a few tanks as a back up plan in case the males go postal!

I'm to the point where I'm pulling out the beaten fish at the 1st sign of abuse. It seems as though if I wait even a day the fish will get harassed to death. I too put them in a tank of juvies for recovery.

sometimes when I get home from work I will see a fish up high in the water column near the filter or heater- thats usually a sign that a bully has singled him/her out.

I dont know about anyone else, but it seems that with Malawian mabunas- if they are blue, most are overly aggressive-
