somebody mentioned to me that the reason my fish are not coloring up is because perhaps the background or the lighting...when the natural light hits i see beautiful blues and yellow...
they are f1 kavala.
any thoughts appreciated

I think they look great.

Your lighting is bright, but lighting, background, substrate is all up to the individual and you will get different results for each.

How long have you had them in this setup?

they have been in their for about a month... the big guy of the group gets real dark at times havent figured out when...seems mostly when he is in his corner.
i think the light is daylight bulbs...should i try something else?

You can try different bulbs. Maybe not so bright.

I would give them sometime to get adjusted..........Fronts are very shy.

The large male might get dark from either getting scared, starting to show dominance.

It's all natural.

Actinic bulbs bring out the blue in fish. Best mixed with white light. All actinic is too blue.

Gil, is the lighting one bulb or two?
Fronts do not need much light at all, and maybe a twin tube with a blue actinic as one of the bulbs would do the trick.
BTW, what size tank?

its a small tank..its only a 55 and the system is a one bulb i believe sunlight is in there now..i keep the light on for a few hours so i can enjoy them and maybe eventually get a little bit of algae on the bg
