Python Gravel Siphon/Water Changers discontinued?

I need some spare parts for my old python water changer and I can't find any retailers that even sell the whole water changer kit let alone spare parts.

I checked Yourfishstuff, Kensfish, Bigals, and ThatPetPlace's websites.

Anyone know? Did they go out of business? Discontinued?

Does anyone know if those other brands (Lees, Aqueon, and Hagen are the only ones I'm aware of that still make similar products), if their spare parts are compatible? I'm not sure what spare part I need exactly (I'll have to double check) but I think it's either a hose coupler or the in-line valve that needs to be replaced.

It's going to be really annoying if I am going to end up having to buy a brand new water changer hose kit now if I can't find Python replacement parts or if the other brands' parts aren't compatible...

They are in bankruptcy and not producing new parts. They are selling their stock of replacement parts. The contact is pythonparts@aol.com

There is a website up(http://www.pythonproducts.com/pporderform.pdf), but I am not sure if the info is accurate.

You can still get python parts on eBay. Search for python in Aquarium and Fish category.

Lee's water changer parts are identical to Python and are interchangeable. Just don't use the Lee's gravel tube with the gravel guard. It restricts water flow tremendously and your tap water used to drain will increase greatly.

Aqueon water changers use a different hose and locking connector and are not interchangeable with Python parts.

After I broke my third Python-brand faucet adapter in the same spot, I purchased one of the blue "Lee's" adapters. While it won't last forever (same weak spot as the Python adapter), it is a bit more durable and is essentially the same part/design with the same connection thread sizes.

I have also used the Lee's, they are identicle to Python. Local LFS's sometimes have tubs of spare parts for Pythons and filters, but you usually have to ask.

Very few have parts, and yes they are going out of business. I have met the owner of Python and am not surprised at all.

That is all I will say because what I know was told to me in confidence.

Python had a pretty good run... I seem to remember getting one in the late '80s.

Probably one of the biggest advances in aquarium-keeping, at least in my lifetime...

I think the patent ran out. Then it's all about competing on price...or getting out...
