I love drooling over the reef pics from foster & smith. I've kicked around the idea of a small live rock, basic reef tank in a 20. I realize small tanks are less stable then large ones. I am a long time aquarist but have limited saltwater experience. They has some fish that are great for nano tanks that are about an inch long. Can they be compatable with reef safe fish that are 3" or 4"? For example, Gobiodon atrangulatus, the green clown goby grows to 1 3/4". Would it be ok to keep with another reef safe fish like the 3" firefish or 4" pinkbar goby, Amblyeleotris aurora?

The fish you are asking about are compatible. You cannot stock small marine tanks too heavily.
