Still need to setup the lighting and finish up the stand.
For the lighting I am think a pair of this from home depot. Did some research on bulbs still not decided and what to use.

What other species are you looking to put in the tank?
You should look into putting a sandsifter in that tank... Placidochromis, Mchenga, Cyrtocara, Ctenopharynx, etc...

thank you guys.
The tank is 6' x 3' x 29". Really like the height of the tank. Fish uses every part of the tank. The pump is able to keep the substrate clean so there is no need to vacuum otherwise it will a royal PITA.
Stocking wise I am now conflicted. I wanted to do groups + single males. I have two quads lichnochromis acuticeps and fossos. The fossos now prevent the acuticeps from spawning. The female acuticeps has dropped tube but every time the male try to breed the fosso chases it away. I am going to give it a few months but I am thinking about going all male. Two groups one will dominate.
I want to have a "peaceful" and colorful tank. So I am open to any haps. Want to keep the tank fairly lightly stocked giving the fish room to grow.
Thinking about some mbuna for the rock pile. I have a male trewavasae in there now want to get some other varieties.

Wow, that's beautiful! I can visualize a lot of possibilities with that tank! I also like the idea of a group of mbuna for the rocks.

WOW!!! :runnningaround:
Beautiful setup as always Joe. Can't wait to see the color maturation in a year!
A lot of "tank envy" over here!!! :becky:
That is one sick tank, brother. Congrats; it looks awesome.
I like the idea of groups plus a few random males, but in my experience, the random males are more trouble than they're worth if you're looking for spawning. They either try to spawn with your females or get stomped and don't color up very well. In a tank that big though, it may work out alright.
If your male fossie is stopping your lichnos from getting it on, perhaps try adding some sight breaks to the tank. It may be a challenge in a massive tank like this, but works in smaller tanks with multiple breeding groups. Worth a thought, I guess.
Good luck. :)

Had the pleasure of seeing this tank in person. WOW. Love how the tank is oriented perpendicular to the wall. I know 4'x4' reef tanks are really popular now, same idea but on a a whole different scale! :becky: The 180 degrees of viewing is STUNNING. Wish I had that kind of room for a big tank.
Great job Joe!
