has anyone had this and rid their tanks of it?
I have a 75 gallon with plants that were fed with CO2 and lighting. Since the outbreak i have cut back on lighting and eliminated the CO2. I plan on taking out the driftwood and the rocks to let it dry in the heat for a couple of days. I plan on moving the fish to a new tank with new sand and water. any thoughts if this will eliminate the cyanobacteria?
it is also on the edges of my plants.

The only product I know of that works on removing blue green algae is Ultra Life Blue Green Algae Remover. It works if used as directed. Safe for plants and fish. http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/group/24479/product.web

You don't need to do all of that. You just need to do the old tripple threat treatment.
1. Manually remove as much of the bga as you can using a small sized siphon. I used airline hose with a rigid plastic tube of slightly narrower diameter.
2. Hit the tank with the recommended single dose of EM or Maracyn.
3. Black out the tank for 4 days.
4. Day 5 do a good vacuuming to remove dead bga and do a 50% or more water change. Rinse out all media.
Dead bga makes ammonia which is why you want to be sure to follow Steps 1 and 4. If you want to be a belt and suspenders type, then do a 2nd dosing of the antibiotic on day 2.
This was how I finally eliminated the worst case of bga I ever had. I tried for a couple of months with one thing or another but the combo attack is what finally did it.

I also use physical removal and erythromycin (Maracyn2) to kill it off. I do the full 5 days treatment with meds though and no blackout.
And then eliminate the cause because it will come right back if you don't.

Maybe I just got lucky but I manually scooped it all out with a strainer spoon and it didn't come back. However it was only growing on my sand and lifted off like a carpet.
