I can't wait to see what he looks like fully colored.

When they breed let me know, I'd probably grab a few fry. How big is he now?

I don't know why you're doubting Atlantis. Yours looks exactly like a Copadichromis borleyi to me... The color seems a little off for that location but yours is still very young and isn't even in breeding dress yet...

And yours is definitely not C. sp. kawanga. This is what C. sp. Kawanga look like: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1022

With yours the only thing I may consider being suspicious of is the location, but even then as far as I know Atlantis gets their stock mostly from Stuart Grant's facility and they are very reputable...

Im not doubting Atlantis at all why wud i do that, its just i found no information on this fish except the link i found and just seems to me that my fish looks nothing like a borleyi....

Yours looks exactly like a borleyi to me, just not fully colored and not in breeding dress... Keep in mind yours is still young, and all the stripes and spots on your photo matched all the photos of C. borleyi I found...

Just give yours some time. Everything about yours looks right to me except that it isn't fully colored...

Chris - check out Konings Malawi Cichlid book(3rd Edtion) page 313. The page has photos of C. borleyi from a dozen locations. Many color variations are evident.

I have reason to doubt them as i have recieved fish that were not what they were suppossed to be and they were hand picked by peter. I have never said anything but it happens. In your case the fish is real I am sure.

Glad to see that you figured it out, as your fish are most definitely NOT Copadichromis Borleyi "Crocodile Rock".

While there is indeed a "crocodile rock" borleyi variant, it most closely resembles the C. borleyi "Kadango", but as far as I know none have ever been exported.
