Does anyone have any DIY stuff to regulate temp out of the faucet for refills on tanks. And i don't mean the handles on the faucet.

Here is what I do. I have a slop sink. The only way this will work for you if it's dedicated for water changes and the fish room. I ran both faucets wide open and adjusted the emergency shut off valve for the hot water usually under the sink, I put a thermometer in a TupperWare bowl and adjust it to the desired temperature you want for your water changes. Dump the water out of the bowl often to check. Now everytime you do a water change open them both up and your all set, no need to worry about it being to hot or to cold. Hope this helps some.

Unless you are doing an extremely large water change, adding water that is a few degrees warmer or cooler does not really matter to most fish. In nature, rain water is cooler than most water in rivers and streams. Adding cooler water sometimes induces fish to spawn.

Actually you would be surprised at how much of a difference they can tolerate. I've done 50% and added cold water and the only thing it did was to trigger spawning.
With 25% water changes the finger test is good enough. It works for me. When I ship fish I don't use the tank water. Why would I want to ship in dirty water? I fill catch buckets with clean water and just finger test for temp. Now most folks would have a heart attack on that one and here is the disclainer. "Don't try this at home." I might not do that for discus but I probably would. But seriously for a 25% water change the temp of the new water going in being off by 10 degrees isn't going to impact the temp of the tank that much.

The only problem that I have had with cold water changes is with a few types livebearers. They were stressed with the temp difference and came down with ich.

With your finger you can probably be off by 2-3 degrees the most. And if you do a 25% waterchange and the water is ten degrees to cold it would alter the whole tanks temp only 2.5 degrees.
