We'll I've been working on bringing in some really cool 3D background. When I first saw them I thought they were nice, but after I setup a few show tanks for displaying them I was really blown away by how nice they are. And they even look better in person.

Very cool! Is the background feature rock hollow? 1 piece? I'm just trying to figure out tank maintenance with something like that. After my DIY cement-styro experience, I'm thinking it's worth the money for my next show tank to buy something instead.

I love in-tank backgrounds, I have four of them (not these, have not seen these before). My intake is behind and the return hooks over the top. Really no additional maintenance as the filter intake keeps the area behind clear of debris. No scraping the back...so maybe less maintenance.

Have you noticed more debris in the tank because of your intake being behind the background?

I don't have a photo of the back of the Feature Rock, I'll try to take a few tonight, but this is what the back of the Holey Rock module in the video looks like.

Both the Feature Rock and the Holey Rocks are very thin, about 1/2" and hollow. Yes, it is one piece. In the Feature Rock tank where I have the ikolas I've left about 2" or so between the back glass and the background. And I placed two large Hydro V sponge filters back there. It also allows room for the fish to swim in and out.
They are very light weight yet sink unlike a typical foam background, which floats. So, for cleaning behind there I can just move it forward or back or even remove it. Of course you could silicone it in place if you really wanted to.

I forgot to mention there are two other versions of the Feature Rock Background that have full top to bottom side to side coverage. They are made to go flat against the back glass, but of course are 3D. And are attached using magnets. Four magnets are built into the background and four matching magnets are applied on the outside of the tank to hold it in place. So, these can also be easily removed as needed. No need to silicone it in place unless you really wanted to.
They are all one piece and very flexible, so they are easy to get in and around any center braces, etc.

Very good question. I find the backgrounds very interesting, but had the same concern about circulation and filtration.

We've been shipping a bunch of things to Norway lately, so I don't see why we couldn't ship to Finland. Send me a PM and let me know which ones you were interested in and I'll get you a shipping quote.

Mine have a space behind specifically to hide equipment, and I do silicone them in. My tanks have no debris in front or in back of the background. You cut holes in the background to allow flow through, and cover the holes with a plastic grate to block fish. The background is dark and the grate is dark, plus the holes are low so they are really not noticeable, especially when you have decor in the tank.

What kind of filtration can you use with this? Is it possible to use power filters? I know the canister filters the flow is quite week so I don't like uses just canisters for africans.

In all the videos of the tanks I have posted I'm using Marineland 280 power filters. I also have Hydro V sponges filters in each tank as well.
Here's a photo of the Crevice model. You can see the filter intake on the left. Also, the sponge filter being hidden by the large Deco Rock.

This background is not even siliconed to the tank at all. The filter intake is actually helping to keep the background in place against the back glass. I have a rock in the lower right side of the tank keeping that end of the background in place.

In this Feature Rock background tank setup the filter intake in on the right, with two sponge filters hidden behind the background.

This particular style is a stand-alone model, it's about 1" or so away from the back glass. It's flexible and took only a few minutes to place it inside the tank.

is it possible to come see them in person before purchase ?
Do you have a list of available dimensions for the 3-d backgrounds? I have a few tanks that could be spruced up. Thanks!

Each background is only available in certain sizes, as the molds for each one are unique. It's best to look at which model you like and see if it matches your tank size.

They look really nice. I might have to do an overhaul on my 150 soon, holey rock is getting boring to me.
