Too many! LOL! Enjoyed the hobby more with fewer tanks. Too much maintenance. Don't get to sit down and just watch the fish. Always changing water or cleaning filters.

Yes Joe I have seen your tanks, buckets, tupperware tubs, etc... Way too many to count!
Nice Mike! I keep trying to fit more in however I like them all sideways and not just the ends sticking out. I tried that once with about 60 small tanks and did not like it.
Hi, I've got 4 tanks. A corner-tank with Oscars and a 6ft with mainly plecs and angels (and rainbows) with 2 smaller tanks with endlers and zebra plecs!

Just waiting for my breeding colonies to start breeding, and then the empty tanks will be filled :-).
Oh, and in the 60g or the 75g, I was going to eventually put in Thoracochromis brauschi. And in the 150g I was going to turn it into a two species Madagascar breeding tank.
Oh, and if I add up all the gallons, including the empty ones, that totals up to: 816.5gallons.

Well....
I have some weird sized tanks ... so I thought I would share the dimentions as well. Not the "normal" fish room full of 75's. I have one room full of tanks with the 125 in the living room.
125 wide 6' by 2' by 17"
50 bow front ( snakes and fish )
75 long 6' by 18" by 13"
75 standard
55 standard
50 breeders 4' by 18" by 13" I have seven of them.
30 breeders 30" by 18 by 12 I have 2 of them.
30 standard I have three of these as well.
20 long I have four of these.
20 standard
10 gallons I have 8 of these.
5 gallon
Big tanks are Tangs... and some of the smaller ones are pleco's.

Threads like these are fun... sometimes! Since we knocked down one rack (that one had 12 75's and 10 30's I think!) I keep meaning to count up all the tanks and gallons... but I keep falling asleep when I get to a certain point! (give me a break! it's in the 200+ range!)
Maybe someone who comes to the BBQ can have fun and figure it out for me... :coz:
we won't count the two kiddie pools of daphnia out by the barn. :becky:

Can I bring a BS net and serve myself??? :)
Julie
07-09-2009, 11:59 AM
Depends!!
Last year I did give away some daphnia, but where the pools are located this year, they might get too much sun, and not survive into August. Weeds were tall, so they were doing well so far, but then someone got energetic and mowed too close to the pools, so no more shade!
But in general, I don't mind a small netful to those who want some. Maybe a larger netful to the counter of the tanks!! :becky:

I just don't see the sense with setting up so many tanks and then spending hours upon hours maintaining them. I have 3 tanks and that's plenty for me.
I think it's more impressive to see a HUGE tank setup as a showpiece beautifully decorated with gorgeous fish than to see tanks upon tanks setup...
I'm seriously considering having just two massive tanks (265 gallon+) plus and heavily stock one with Featherfins and Cyprichromis (say a colony of Foai Sibwesa - and 30+ Cyprichromis). And then maybe devote the other tank to either Haps, Mbuna, or another Featherfin/Cyp tank.

Tony,
I didnt build it it was given to me. The guy who built it used treated plywood and then a bunch of coats of a marine epoxy paint on it. He used screws and also glue to keep the tank together. He also used silicon around the inside edges. The tank is in storage right now.

I learned my lesson years ago. I rather let them be hungry than have someone over feed and make a mess.
If a female can go 3 weeks and more holding fry and not eating, they all can go without eating for a week or 10 days while i'm away. The tanks that I have on timers get taken off and left with no light. This will help keep them calm and less active.
