Anyone ever use it? Some people say it's good for African cichlids cause it raises ph. Only thing I could find at my local lowes that resembles any kind of slate. I could search some more but any long term issues anyone knows of or had experience with?
Oh yeah here's a picture of one of the pieces for reference

I have sandstone in my african tanks, but it's rough. Since is it sandstone (not limestone) it's silica like sand and inert and won't raise pH.
Not my favorite rock but it won't hurt anything. Mine was leftover from when my fireplace was built.

Ok. Was just in a mad dash of trying to clean up after last nights fiasco and moving what was left of my multis (1 female 4 juvies and 4 fry... Idk how I even saw the fry of how they made it) to a 10 gallon & trying to rescape my tank for next weekends trip to RSC. Gonna stick with my cyps, add some xenos and probably a few julis.
New rescape:

Tom,
If you're going to RSC Saturday and are interested in some slate, I'll throw some in my truck and give it you. I have blue and red. Depending on the tank size you may just need to break it up a bit.

Thanks for the offer Matt, I think the sandstone is doing the trick right now as one of my cyps is starting to hang around one of the pieces and starting to show a little blue again.
