I found a product that I thought was long extinct. I havent seen it since I was a kid- the ivory colored "disolving shell" that feeds your fish for up to a week while you are on vacation. What a crock of crap. The thing is supposed to supposedly disolve and little tiny particles are released which feed your fish for days.
Give me a break! Anybody ever try it?

This stuff will mess your water quality horribly.
I think that you nailed it on the head...

Weekend feeders could work if you had a tank with acidic water. They don't dissolve in water with a high pH. Some plecos are amused by them.

I've seen these things for decades. If used properly they do work. Mainly they were used in small fish type community tanks. If i need to be gone for the weekend i would feed a greater amt before i left, fish in the wild don't eat like most of us feed them in captivity anyway. I'd venture to say 90% of hobbyists overfeed. :bandit:

what people dont realize is that for a weekend- fasting them is actually a good thing to do. Not tossing in that garbage.
Anybody here fast their fish?

Two weeks won't hurt adults either.
This guy recommends fasting your fish when medicating them for up to two weeks. http://www.nationalfishpharm.com/
