I'm about 3/4's through the new cd, and it's pretty darn good. So far it's a more mellowish sounding e street band but all in all each song is a winner.

So in other words, or mumbles, if you liked Springsteen in the past, even though you could not understand some of what he sang, you will like this as well?

That about covers it. It's kinda like listening to Tom explain that he's a sports fan yet he follows the mets and the jets. instead of the giants and yankees which are teams that have won championships multiple times:1devil:

Doug, I saw Springsteen in '83 or '84. While I will tell you that it was a great show, I am still not a fan.

And for your sake, I hope Lidge goes 42 for 42 again, because without him you would not have made the playoffs.

I've been a fan since the 70's thanks to my brother. I used to have a recording of springsteen at the main point but that was gone when my car was stolen in 88. I should have backed it up but never did. If you do like springsteen the absolute best recording ever of him and the band is the live cd from 1975 or so at the hammersmith odeon. Far better than anything he has ever done. It just came out last year or the year before.

It really was an incredible season for the phillies in a number of ways. Lidge was a huge part of it and so was the defense behind him to save a few of his scarier saves. Howard having a monster september and last but not least zero injuries to the starting pitching staff other than sending meyers down for a month and sitting eaton down forever. Eaton may be the mvp for not pitching in september. He really isn't that bad of a pitcher I think he just loses concentration or something and starts throwing up meatballs.

The mets really need to address the clashing personalities they have on that team and someone has to go or just get through to reyes and a couple others to just play and keep it low key. If guys like drysdale still were around to face him the guy would be in a head cast from all the pitches coming in high. Talented guy but he's a putz.

I don't say this to offend but they really have choked for 3 years straight. They were the better team against the cardinals in 2006, the whole team kinda choked in 07 and mainly the bullpen did it in 08 although personally I think their starting pitching wasn't that great either when they were needed and wright and reyes stopped hitting in september and I don't see any reason on earth to pay beltran his money, they shoulda signed rowand instead. I think beltran is a big reason they don't win. If they had the beltran that played for the astros in the playoffs it would be a different story each of the 3 years.

I'm a Springsteen fan. Didn't see him live in his heyday but I did see him 3-4 times since he brought back the E Street band a while back. He puts on a great show.
I just can;t stand to hear his poilitical views, it makes me crazy. He gets paid to sing.

I need to get that new album. As good as Greetings From Asbury Park? Probably not but still pretty good.

It is amazing that he gets paid to sing. Because he can't. LOL!

Nothing like greetings from asbury. It's more like songs from the rising. The live cd is one you'll love if you liked the early stuff.
The political spewing pisses me off and I would prefer that he keeps it to himself.
He's not a great guitar player or a great singer but he is a great songwriter and puts on 1 heck of a show. I'm running low on cd's to buy from favorite bands or singers, no more hendrix, floyd, zep, dire straits, beatles, cream, aerosmith and very little out of the stones so at least springsteen still puts out some music

I actually met him over at the Circuit City that is now closing on Rt 36 in West Long Branch (or is that part Eatontown?). We just took a concert dvd and a cd and opened them before we bought them and had him autograph for us. Nice guy to chat with too.. Just thought I'd share that story...

I wouldn't consider myself a fan, but I do like a handful of songs. I'm personally wondering what songs they're going to sing at the halftime...
