fungus on your wood? sounds like you should start using protection.

Often when driftwood is added to a tank, fungus will start to grow on it. The fungus usually disappears in a couple of weeks. You could soak the driftwood in a water and bleach solution overnight. This will kill any living organisms on the wood. The bleach may also lighten up the color of the wood.

Yep..happens with new driftwood all the time and it goes away before long. I haven't tried it but I wonder if peroxide would work to clear that up without lightening the wood. Just put a few capfulls in the water instead.
We use that when we pull eggs...just a thought.

Ok, this is what I do to driftwood no matter who/where I get it from:
Boil it.
If the piece is too big to be boiled whole then just boil half and the turn it around in the pot. I usually boil it for about 3-5 minutes.
Let cool.
Soak in cold water for 12 hours.
Change water.
Repeat this action for about two days.
When I place a piece of driftwood in the tank, and this goes especially for Malaysian Driftwood, I add carbon to the filter...this will help remove, although not completely, the tanins that are released by the wood.
