The rare fish raffle did not go over that well at other auctions. We're debating whether to resurrect it. Basically, we obtain a fish (or pair, trio, group) that is not often seen in the hobby, place it in a tank for observation and raffle it off.
I'm looking for ideas for a rare species, if we decide to go with the raffle.
Another option is to go with a silent auction.
Let's hear everyone's thoughts on this matter.

I would take a vote as to where the fish will come from (collection point)
See how many people voted for the place and how many people are going to the auction and use that to determine if it's worth it.
I vote for a group/pair of fish from Lake Tanganyika, surprised!:bandit:

Although not that rare, a nice breeding pair of discus or a group of young wild discus would be nice.

Now I don't know how rare they are but how about a compromise? How about a Westie.
I have a new spawn of Nannachromis transvistitis that should be of good size by then that I could donate a pair. The folks that handed me these and said breed them get first dibs but I'm sure they wouldn't mind a pair going to the auction.

If you can get Paretroplus damii...well...that would just be awesome...
Otherwise, how about Synodontis irsacae?
Or even rarer, Placidochromis platyrhynchos? Buccochromis heterotaenia? Or Buccochromis atritaeniatus?
