I know to not keep the lights on they feed off light, but what about my Anemone will it die?

What kind of lighting are you using, if its a regular florescent bulb it will die anywheys. Just get in there and scrub it, but it can also come from high nitrates, poor lighting, and depleated exygen levels in the tank

The brown algae is actually diatoms and they feed on silicates. My guess is that you used tap water when you set the tank up. If so, that is the source of your problem. Most tap water contains silicates. They will go away on their own when their supply of silicates is exhausted. To avoid this problem in the future, use reverse osmosis water for your water changes and to replace any water that evaporates. You can buy ro water from many shops or you can buy it in most grocery stores or even Walmart or K Mart by the gallon. Many companies that deliver water in 5 gallon bottles offer ro water as one of their products. You can also hook up an ro unit in your house and make your own.
