Is pool filter sand much finer than play sand? Does it chew up impellors more?

I'd say just the opposite. Play sand is much finer. Bill bought a few bags of pool filter sand the day we took the road trip to Hidden Reef and in my opinion is a much coarser grade. It looks nice too as I got to check out his tank about a week ago. According to him cleaning the sand was a piece of cake.

What he said.
Actually I am pretty happy that I bought too much sand, as I will be slowly changing some more tanks over.
IMO, the Tropheus sp Red Kiku look much better in the pool sand, they sift thru it with no problem and cleaning it is pretty easy.

Thanks Bill. I did google it first, ya know.

I was hoping someone could tell me of another source of PFS since there is no pool supply store in my area. You can hire folks to service your pool, or your pool table, or to build a fence around your pool... :neener:

I'll check with my local hardware store and see if they can order some in.
