I was cleaning my tank today and to my surprise i found 5 1/2" albino bristlenose fry. To the people who raise them what is best to feed them at this size? I went out and got tetra algae crisps and they dont seem a bit interested in them. Im not sure how old they are, but they no longer have the yolk sac.

When I was spawning ancistrus, I fed them Hikari wafers and different pellets. A lot of people use zucchini or cucumber.

I only feed mine cucumber slices. I just cut them, put a plant weight on them an drop them in the tank. By the next day I remove the outer skin and weight. I tried once with peeling it but once they ate thru it next to the weight the cucumber would float to the top.

Thanks for the advice. I usually feed the larger ones cucumber i just wasnt sure if there is anything to speed up their grown. Sunday they will be going in there own tank, but right now there sharing a small breeding trap with 10 albino ruby red fry. The larger plecos seem to like the algae crisps, but my fish eat most of them before they hit the bottom. I didnt expect these guys to breed yet my largest female is alittle less than 2".

I feed them HBH algae wafers. Someone said canned green peas work well but i haven't tried it.

I feed mine NLS "Grow" formula crushed up. They love it and thrive well on it.

The peas are probably my least favorite of all the good stuff mentioned above. You have to 'skin' them and they don't sink real well etc.....

Once mine started going at it, they were on about a 2 month schedule--If you can snag the babys shortly after the next batch is free swimming you'll have 50+ instead of 5
