I haven't had Guppies since 1978...thirty years ago.
I had Blacks, Orange and a really nice strain of Blue that had massive tails.
I could remember a neighbor of mine as a kid who had a great looking 30g setup with Guppies, Cories and Water Sprite.
Who here has Guppies?
Pictures?

Greyd, where are you located? My father just set up 2 75 Gal tanks about 4 months ago and is looking to stock them with Guppies. I sent him your Aquabid site so he can see the pic's, nice!

FF13, It's funny, I had a 30 Gal my Pop set up for me yrs ago when I was a kid. Guppies, and Water Sprite. The tank had a slate bottom and big old stainless steel corner posts. The thing weighed a ton.

Hi CJC. ne philly area. I have only kept guppies in small tanks, 2 1/2's,
5 1/2's and 10's. I've had no real success keeping them in 20' , 40's or anything larger and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The specialty strains of guppies these days are so inbred that disease can crop up at any time even from just moving them from 1 of your established tanks to another.
It probably can be done using 75's but I can't speak from experience with large tanks.

I sent Pop your aquabid site and he called me, sounded like he had some interest. I just figured if you were by him or me, he could take a look and / or pick your brain a little. He's by Lake Wallenpaupack in the Pocono's.

He hasn't kept fish for probably 50 some yrs but now has the itch to get started again. His tanks have been up and running now for about 5, 6 months. I gave him some Red Head Sevrums just to get the tanks going. He bought some male Guppies from PetCo, again, just to see how the fish would do.

Specialty strains? Wouldn't that be what you are line breeding? I don't know, never had an interest in Guppies so I've never read up on them. Appriciate the info, what would you do? He's trying to get his Water Sprite established in the tanks and in the mean time is looking into what type of Guppies he realy wants. He's not looking to breed them.

Thanks

Funny story about my son, who is 11. He never showed much interest in any of my fish. The other day he comes home and wants to setup a tank with guppies. Seems they are doing a project at school with guppies and all the kids are excited about it. Never mind that I have tank after tank of cichlids, catfish, rainbowfish, etc. Even when I had a guppy tank, he didn’t care much about the fish. So, we put a small tank in his room with a pair of guppies and every day he’s asking me if the female is going to have babies yet.

greyd, too bad I setup the tank before I saw your post. You have some really nice guppies. The fins on the black moscows are huge.

Tell your Dad to visit a meeting of the South jersey Guppy Group. All the jersey breeders go here and he will find the high quality show guppies here.

Yesterday I saw Joe Jaskot and it helped me to remember that I like all fish, he had panda guppies and I'd love to have a tank of them. They were sweet!

Let me know when you're ready just don't remind me that you are a mets fan!
I haven't been putting auctions of them up any more. I got fed up with a few other guys I sold to start selling their fish they raised and taking all of the credit for the line. I don't care what people do with fish I've sold them after they raise up some spawns but I'd at least expect them to give credit where the fish came from. It took a lot of work to get the fish I got from thailand to turn out the way they have. The first batches were throwing fish that had a lot of green in them and I kept at it until I was just getting a velvety black color.

He should get ready when the season actually starts:) 04-04 games are just a bunch of exhibition games. The 1st game of the season that matters is on 4/5 when the 2008 WORLD CHAMPION PHILLIES play the braves on espn, unless you count the dodgers/giants game on 4/5 two teams that hated ny so much they both left for california!

Doug, how much time do you need in order to get Blacks from you?

Hi, sorry for not replying quicker. My computer was knocked out for a bit with a virus that went through the norton protection. If it's just a trio I usually have an extra trio that I can sell. If it's more than that I'd need a few weeks for the next batch that's growing out.

You can do many fish in a 30 gallon. But keep the female to male ratio at least 1:!, if not 2:1. Less females often results in dead females (date raped).

I'm interested in finding some albino flametail guppies. There was some at the 2nd auction held by another certain site. I have been searching for them and so far nothing. Just wondering if anyone knows where I should be searching?

Edit: Kinda reminds me of these from greyd's list, hmmm could it be? Names aren't the same but maybe I was mistaken on that.
