what sort of pump and what sizes tanks do you have connected.

Pump size is determined by the gallons of water needed to be pumped at a certain height (head pressure). As the head height increases the pump flow will decrease. Some water flow is also lost due to friction. As the distance the water flows through the piping or tubing increases, the amount of flow will decrease slightly. So basically you decide how many tanks you want on the system, the turnover rate of the water (how much water you want to turnover each hour), and the height and distance the water will be pumped. Then you get a pump that is sized for this application.

I use pond pumps for my system (which will be running upstairs tanks as well as fishroom 1200 gallon ) they are cheaper and can run to higher tanks because most are made for waterfalls
