The year is winding down. Still have an auction coming up and a few trips, then the holidays.

regarding your fish and tanks...
Thus far, what have been some of the positives you have been thru this year?
How about any setbacks or negatives? Room for improvement? Any regrets?

Ive been so busy this year. Full time architect student, 2 jobs, pledging for a fraternity and a girlfriend.

So needless to say, I have been wayyyyy off my fish game.
This year I sold off a lot of my mbuna, and slowly started the shift toward haps/peacocks.

Breeding has been quiet on the homefront.
My Red Fin Compressiceps look like theyre about to start breeding though. They are real cool.

Positives / Highlights for 2010:

1. Joining ECC in January :runnningaround:

2. Meeting many of you at events and auctions :huga:

3. Winning the argument with my husband about how I NEED another tank in the den we just remodeled :beerchug:

4. Attending the ACA in July, and soon enough, the Catfish Convention next week

5. Keeping the German blue rams Bill gave me alive and -- actually having them breed (Read: Normally I kill these fish every time, so just having them live is a celebration for me, never mind breed)

6. Picking up a couple of different types of cories; starting to get really into rainbows; happy I like Puntius denisonii as much as I do

7. Finally finding a way to truly contribute to ECC by authoring the Wet Thumb Thread :coool!:

Negatives / Regrets for 2010:

1. Selling my clown loaches :sad-smiley-002:

2. Still do not have Africans yet (but see #3 above) :)

3. Miss my discus …. But it’s like an old boyfriend. Sometimes you just have to cut the strings and move on ;)

4. Not into breeding these days. Not exactly sure why; perhaps I am still burnt out from all those years of breeding discus and raising brine shrimp ; or maybe it is b/c my company is in a crazy growth pattern and expanding internationally, thus, taking up so much of my time -- I am just happy that I can take care of my 17 tanks (10 big show tanks that require pruning /aquascaping frequently).

Good things

1. Salvaging most of my breeders after months of neglect at the hands of an irresponsible fish sitter. It wasn't as bad as it first looked!

2. Meeting some of you in January at Atlantis

3. Deciding that 20g standard tanks were perfect for many of my breeding groups, thus ditching a few oddball tank sizes and making more room for more tanks!

4. Almost winning the March Madness contest!

5. Fish survived wedding and honeymoon at the hands of an awesome fish sitter who even had to deal with a tank that sprung a leak!

6. Plans solidifying to come to the next auction! :runnningaround:

Bad things

1. Missing so many cool trips, and having to cancel my plans for the spring auction.

2. Losing to Sarah in the March Madness contest! :mad2:

3. Having to euthanize fish damaged in Fall 2009 while I was in France.

4. My gobies stopped breeding, and I haven't been able to establish a new pair.

All in all, the year was a net plus. ECC has made fishkeeping in the northeast much more
fun- I no longer feel like I'm in a vacuum!
