1. General Rules

A) The auction will be open to the public. Cichlids, non-cichlids, hobby related dry goods, new and used, and aquarium plants are welcome. The seller must ensure any used equipment is in good working order and that all filters are cleaned and dried out. No equipment with water still in it will be accepted.
B) There is a bidder card fee of $5. This fee is meant for anyone who would like to bid on any item during the auction. There is no fee for bidders who are also sellers at the auction and have pre-registered 60 hours in advance.(midnight, Thursday night before the auction)
C) EastCoastCichlids.org will not be held responsible for any loss, damage, theft, or injury to any auction item before, during, or after the auction.
D) Once they are registered, all for-sale items become property of EastCoastCichlids.org and cannot be withdrawn from the auction. The seller must pick up any lots that fail to sell at the end of the auction. Any items left will become the property of EastCoastCichlids.org.
E) The auction split for pre-registered sellers is the first dollar to ECC and then the remaining 70% for the seller and 30% for EastCoastCichlids.
This is to encourage people not to enter fish in the auction that will likely sell for $1 or $2.
F) The auction split for regularly registered sellers is the first dollar to ECC and then the remaining 60% to the seller and 40% to EastCoastCichlids.org.
G) Registration of auction lots is 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Auction lots arriving after the auction has started will be registered during the next break, and the split will be The first dollar to ECC and the remaining 40% seller and 60% EastCoastCichlids. The auction will begin at 11am.
H) The auctioneer has the final word on all bids. Auction rules will be strictly enforced.
I) If you wish to push a lot there is $2.00 fee.
J) All attendees are eligible to participate in bidding and raffles, this includes Ownership and Administrators of EastCoastCichlids.org.
K) Commerce not pertaining directly to the auction is prohibited unless it is a pre-determined sale by an individual. Violators will be asked to desist or leave the premises. It is the discretion of Administration of EastCoastCichlids to ban violators from future auctions.

2. SELLER

A) ABSOLUTELY NO ZIP-LOCK BAGS ALLOWED!
B) Acceptable auction combinations include: Adult/Sub-adult Singles; Pair (Male and Female of the same species and variant); Trio (1 Male and 2 Females of the same species and variant); Reverse Trio (2 Males and 1 Female of the same species and variant); Mated Pair, Proven Pair, or Breeding Pair (2 fish of the same species and variant, that have successfully produced fry with each other); Colony (2 or more adult males and 2 or more adult females of the same species and variant); Juvenile (4 or more juveniles of the same species and variant); Fry (6 or more fry of the same species and variant). There is a maximum of 4 lots per species per Seller.
C) No Hybrids, other than Discus and Aulonocara (Peacocks). Examples of fish not allowed are bloody parrots, flowerhorns, etc. Minimum lengths will be enforced. Dwarf species must be at least 3/4" and all others must be at least 1" in length unless clearly marked as "FRY". The Auction Committee will inspect all bags of fish sold. The Administrators have the right to refuse any lot due to size, visible defects, sickness, or improper bagging of item.
D) No deformed or unhealthy fish will be allowed. The entire lot will be rejected if 1 fish is deemed unsuitable to sell by the auction managers.
E) Each bag must be labeled with the following information: Species of Fish, Number of Fish, and users ECC Screen Name and/or email address. As an option a picture can be added to the bag as well.
F) All fish should be in double inverted bags or be in 3 mil (minimum) bags. The bag should be filled with 1/3 water and 2/3 air. Adult males and females should be separately bagged. EastCoastCichlids.org reserves the right to determine if bagging is acceptable. There will be a $2.00 charge to the seller for any fish that need to be rebagged. NO BUCKETS will be permitted unless permission has been granted by ECC 48 hours prior to Auction.
G) The seller may designate any submission as a 100% donation of the proceeds to EastCoastCichlids.org. All 100% donations are exempt from rules 2b (acceptable combinations) and 2c (size requirements)
H) No payments to sellers will be made during the auction. Settlement will be mailed within the next 30 days.
H1) All checks MUST be cashed within 90 days of date mailed out. Checks not cashed within this time frame will become Void.
I) There are no minimum bids. The auctioneer will determine the starting bid and increments.
J) Non-fish items, whenever possible, should be bagged to prevent water damage.
K) Pre-registration of lots is encouraged. In order to be eligible for the free bidder card and 70/30 split, sellers must register 36 hours prior to auction.
L) Pre-registered lots are eligible to be color coded in order to be auctioned off sooner. Red dots for pre-registered items and blue dots for donations.

3. BIDDERS

A) Know what you are bidding on. All items are available for inspection prior to the auction and during the break. The will be no inspection allowed during the auction. Take the time to examine each item so you positively know what it is BEFORE you bid.
B) Payment for auction items will be in CASH ONLY and will be collected at the time of the winning bid.
C) Each bidder must register and be given their own bidder card. There will be no fish sold to anyone without a bidder card.
D) When an item is sold, the runner will bring the item to the buyer and collect payment. If needed the runner will obtain change from the auction purser and will deliver the money to the winning bidder. Only persons over the age of 13 will be allowed to perform running duties.
E) No one will be allowed to leave the facility without items indicating that they have been paid for.
F) EastCoastCichlids.org is not responsible for the condition of the items after they have been won. The winning bidder relinquishes EastCoastCichlids.org of any responsibility.
G) EastCoastCichlids.org and its owners will not be held responsible for any purchases that are made by its members from its vendors.

Note: Children are a parent's responsibility and, for their own safety, must be controlled at all times -- otherwise, you will be asked to leave.
