Congrats Wally on the Polleni. That's what I am trying to breed. He said to try raising the temp to 85 degrees and that they are seasonal breeders. Mine dug the corner out of my 265 then did nothing. that was a few weeks ago. I have an 8" male and 4" female.
My tank is about 82 degrees F. Mine dug out an 18" by 10" patch under a cliff or overhang. I read somewhere and I can not recall where that Malagasy cichlids located in the Northern Hemisphere will spawn in winter. The theory is that they are tuned to the seasonal shift in Madagascar, meaning our winter is their summer.
