xp3 mechanical filtration only

Hi guys,I'm getting an eheim 2250 for my 150g.I'm going to transfer all the bio media from 2 xp3's over to the 2250 and use the 2 xp3's for mechanical only.Whats the best way to set the xp3's up for mech only.Thanks in advance.

I would put sponges and a layer of floss in them. Let them polish the water.

Should I fill all the baskets with more of the rena sponges and floss on top or would this clog to easily.
