What a miserable Sunday for pro football.
My Miami Dolphins lost.
The Jets won.
The Colts won.
The Ravens won.
The Bills won.
All of these things hurt the playoff chances for the Dolphins.
The only thing good that came out of today was that Donovan McNabb was pulled from the Eagles game...a plus for Eagles fans.

My Pats won, but no help from the stupid Titans. I think your dolphins need a quarterback. Tom brady might be available next year.lol

Pennington was fine, the defense was taken apart horribly. Pennington will be the QB for this year and possibly next until Chad Henne is ready. We scored 28 points against what is supposed to be a good defense, but the 48 given up is bad.

All week I was toying with removing Donovan and replacing him in my fantasy league with Pennington. Well I should have went with my gut feeling! I started McNabb who got me -2 and Pennington got a whopping 30 points! If I started Pennigngton my games would have been decided last night with 2 easy wins. Now I have to wait to see how tonight goes! One guy has Grant (RB) and I am up 19 and my daughter-in-law has Jennings and Roger's tonight and I am only up 13. Looks like I will split my games this week.
Next week Pennington will be my starter.
Reid and McNabb need to go. What I would like to see is Reid leave and give McNabb one year with a new coach. I think Reid held him back a lot!
Sorry Bill but go JETS! You gotta love Favre!
I have plenty of trash talking to add with these stinking EAGLES!

I have to confess I gave up on Jets’ season from the moment Jets grabbed Favre out of retirement - I really thought the man was a ”has been” and merely a ticket seller. Judging by the last few games that Jets played, I must admit that I have been hugely impressed by Favre’s accuracy and patience, as well as play execution by the offense as a whole. I think their run defense is top-ranked, am I right? The only weakness, in my opinion, is the occasional wobbly pass defense.
I'm more of a Jets fan than a Giants fan. Besides, Jets got better looking jersey.

Tell you what I am 33 and Have never been more excited to watch Jets games than this year. We haven't had a good Qb my whole life till now. I think alot has to do with the coaches and getting the players to buy in to the system which it seems they have.

How about Brett Favre signing with the Vikes?
IMO, the guy is washed up. He was the 21st ranked QB in the NFL last season and led the League with 22 interceptions. He threw two intercepts against the Seahawks during game 15 and 3 intercepts in the sweetest loss of them all...a 24-17 loss to the AFC East Champ Miami Dolphins during game 16.
Favre lost four of the Jets last five games...only throwing for 2 TD passes in those games.
Personally I wish that he was still with the Jets...so I could get a few good laughs again.

I love ya Fran...
Fran Tarkenton, who previously has expressed his loathing over Brett Favre's inability to make a decision, spoke out again Wednesday, a day after Favre decided to sign with the Minnesota Vikings.
"I really have no interest in what Brett Favre does. He kind of lost me a few years ago by retiring and un-retiring and here and there," Tarkenton said on "The Opening Drive" on Sirius NFL Radio.
"I asked a few friends here, maybe 10 or 12 people we were out with last night. I said, 'What do you think about Brett Favre going back to the Vikings?' You know who cared? Nobody. It's good news for you guys. It's good news for television and so forth but the last time I heard ... football was a team sport, isn't it? It's not just about the quarterback."
Favre, who first retired in March 2008, came out of retirement and forced the Green Bay Packers -- with whom he had starred for 16 years -- to trade him to the New York Jets in August when the Packers declined to accept his un-retirement.
He played one season for the Jets, then retired again in February.
But rumors started bubbling again in May that Favre wasn't fully committed to retiring. Vikings coach Brad Childress communicated regularly with Favre. And Tarkenton -- a Hall of Famer who spent five seasons with the New York Giants, but is remembered for his 13 seasons with the Vikings -- made clear he was disgusted by the team's flirtation with Favre.
"I think he has been a great flamboyant quarterback, but he has made more stupid plays than any great quarterback that I've ever seen. Look at his final game in a Packers uniform. He blew that game [NFC championship] against the Giants," Tarkenton said in late May on KFAN-1130 in the Twin Cities.
At first, Favre said he would remain retired. Then he wasn't sure. He said he would let the Vikings know by July 30. Then he decided he'd stay retired. Then on Tuesday, he flew to Minnesota and signed a two-year deal worth $25 million.
"I really think the whole Brett Favre saga of retiring, un-retiring, three weeks ago [saying] 'I can't play,' the Vikings said, 'We're moving on,' it's a circus," Tarkenton said Wednesday "The Opening Drive." "It's an absolute circus, and it takes away from all the other things that are going on with the Vikings, with the NFL. We're getting ready for a football season and this is a circus and I just have no interest in it.
"Wouldn't you be upset if you're a Packer fan? I think you're going to have Packer fans burning the No. 4 Favre Green Bay jersey. I think the Packer fans have every right to be outraged."
Packers fans might be upset, but Vikings fans have embraced their new quarterback, as evidenced by the Vikings' ticket sales.
The team has sold more than 3,000 season tickets in 24 hours, and about 10,000 single-game tickets during that time. Seats for the Oct. 5 game against Green Bay are available only through a season ticket. There are roughly 7,000 season tickets remaining.
Last season, the Vikings had to race to beat the blackout deadline for several games.
Merchandise also is moving. Team chief marketing officer Steve LaCroix said several hundred pre-orders for Favre jerseys were placed online Tuesday. The purple No. 4s were scheduled to begin showing up in stores Wednesday.
Tony Dungy, the former Indianapolis Colts coach who retired -- and has stayed retired -- in January, was on "The Waddle and Silvy" show on ESPN 1000 in Chicago, and said Favre has a limited window in which to win over his new teammates.
"I would be very worried about that if I were the Minnesota Vikings and their head coach," Dungy said on "The Waddle and Silvy" show. "He's going to have to let them know he's as committed as they are. And get that across to them. If that happens, it could to be a big boost. If it doesn't happen, if players feel you weren't in this from the beginning ... is he really in this with us? If there were feelings for quarterbacks who were already there ... it's going to be interesting to see how this plays out."

I would like to see some of BIll's comments about Pennington when he was a Jet. :heh:
Pennington had accuracy for 10 yd passes in Giants stadium. On windy days like today he was his noodle arm self.
Chad has a good QB head and was a good leader. He's injuring prone and is most likely done.
Again, very few rookie QBs make an impact like Flaco or Ryan. We'll see in a couple years if he pans out. I remember what the Giants' fans said about Manning.
It was good to see the E-Girls get smacked around by the Raiders.

LOL, they didn't "hold" the Dolphins to 104 yards. The Dolphins were minus three possessions because of Ginn's 2 KO returns and Jason Taylor's fumble recovery for a TD.

Jets D dominated the Dolphins O this game.
2.3 yards per rush. 1.9 per pass play. Average gain per play 2.0.
At 2.0 yards gained per play, those three extra possessions x 3 plays per = 18 more yards.
Miami offense:
TOTAL NET YARDS 104
Total Plays 51
Average Gain Per Play 2.0
NET YARDS RUSHING 52

What a miserable Sunday for pro football.
My Miami Dolphins lost.
The Jets won.
The Colts won.
The Ravens won.
The Bills won.
All of these things hurt the playoff chances for the Dolphins.
The only thing good that came out of today was that Donovan McNabb was pulled from the Eagles game...a plus for Eagles fans.
http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/TRND/FP3433~Miami-Dolphins-Logo-Posters.jpg
No get the story right the Dolphins hurt the Dolphins and if they had any team at all this year they would not need the help of other teams :neener: :sad-smiley-002:
My team is no better than yours (the Jets) we just got lucky....
And Phily with McNabb is way better than the Dolphins and the Jets ... I hate the Dolphins and their whole team should have been pulled off the field from several games this year, so that the fans,TV audience would not suffer. Sometimes it's good to be lucky....
So no hard feelings here this is all in good spirits....

Time for the 2010 NFL Season.
My predictions...
AFC East
Three team race between the Pats, Jets and my Fins.
The team that wins this division is going to need 10 wins as, IMO, they will knock each other off all season.
Division winner:
Pats
AFC North
Will the Steelers collapse or bond together with Ben's issues?
Will T.O. add to the Bengals?
Will Flacco lead the Ravens to the Promise Land?
Division Winner:
Ravens
AFC South
Will the Colts have a playoff spot clinched by the end of November?
Division Winner:
Colts
AFC West
Are people overrating the Raiders and Broncos?
Yup.
Division Winner:
Chargers
NFC East
Like the AFC East each team will beat the other team up all season.
IMO the most difficult division to pick.
How many people will hate this pick?
Division Winner:
Cowboys
NFC North
Is Aaron Rodgers the most underrated QB in the League?
Division Winner:
Packers
NFC South
Remember not so long ago, they were The 'Aints?
Division Winner:
Saints
NFC West
Alex Smith will make or break this division.
That's why I say...
Division Winner:
Seahawks
Wild Cards
Dolphins
Texans
Vikings
Falcons
Super Bowl
Packers will represent the NFC.
I can see the Ravens playing the Colts for the AFC Championship...then the questions will be, "how good is the Colts D going to be" and "can Joe Flacco become the next Phil Simms"...a QB that has the defense, a running game and just needs to play smart to win.
My prediction:
Ravens defeat the Packers

1. The Eagles are better but not this past Sunday.
2. Vick is a whiner and will get what he gets as a running QB.
3. As a Steelers fan, the team is not as good as last year but are still a top 10 team. Their O line is desimated (sp?) by injuries and are playing 2nd and 3rd stringers.
4. I think the Raiders are a solid team, just above .500 at 9-7 and will cause fits to any team they play. Give them another year or two to be in the playoffs.
5. The Bills are a lot better than people give them credit for. They are a young team and are afraid of no one. For the people of Buffalo's sake I hope they make the playoffs.
6. Don't burn that Dolphins jersey. I can think of another handful of teams I'd rather see burned over the Phins.

Don't take out on me, buddy. Your team chocked in the last 3 outings with 2 home games to top it off!!
As far as the Jets, I was refering to the same color jerseys. If I was going to follow a team with green colored jerseys I would rather pick the NY Pansies tham the chicks.
Good thing the Pansies didn't pick up the multi dollar man. Or as it should be call - butter fingers.
Matt did you watched Cruz, a Giants 3rd string receiver, blow right by him AND the safety last week? :neener:
And YES I'm a GIANTS fan !

As I said last week, the eagles need a new coach. The Giants won, but they were supposed to. Both are still bad teams. Pittsburgh lost. Raiders lost. I was surprised that the Bills lost. Dolphins jerseys still make good rags (don't burn em). LOL!

Joe, many of us have been praying years for a new coach if for no other reason than to have something more than a sub-human show up at a post game news conference and help explain to us what went wrong this week.

That you will probably mention your club shamelessly the next time you get the chance to.

Romo had an incredible 2nd half. There were three passes that almost any NFL QB would not have been able to complete.
IMO, although only in the first half, the biggest play in the game was the sack that Matt Moore took to make a 37 yd FG attempt into a missed 45 yd FG attempt. The Cowboys ended up with great field position and then eventually tied it at 3-3 with a FG.

My '11 NFL Predictions:
(If you are semi-intelligent you will not go with my picks)
AFC Division Winners
Patriots
Steelers
Texans
Chargers
Wild Cards
Colts
Ravens
NFC Division Winners
Eagles
Packers
Saints
Seahawks
Wild Cards
Giants
Falcons
The Conservative SB Matchup:
Patriots def Packers
I think that the Texans and Falcons are two of the teams that might not only make it to their respective Conference Championship Games, but could end up being the 2011 surprises.
Four months ago those were my predictions.
If Houston had Schaub I would go with them over New England.
I think Atlanta will have to go to Green Bay, but I doubt the Falcons can beat the Packers.
My favorite prediction:
The Jets not making the playoffs!!!:runnningaround:

If only there was a way for Joe Flacco to win the Super Bowl without Ray Lewis, I might be able to pull for the Ravens.
After last night and having them deliver my wish by slaughtering the Cowgirls, I'm getting behind Will's team the rest of the way. And no I haven't jumped off the Eagles bandwagon. My thought is the further the Giants advance (a division rival) the more obvious it becomes that my team is in trouble and needs big changes starting with the coaching staff.

The playoffs are all set and here's the first round.
Bengals vs. Texans
Steelers vs. Broncos
Lions vs. Saints
Falcons vs. Giants
Here are my predictions:
The Texans are not what they used to be when Schaub was playing. If Johnson can come back for the Texans it makes it a little more interesting. I think the Bengals can pull off the upset here. Bengals 27 - Texans 24.
The Steelers will pretty much roll over the Broncos. Tim Tebow will be contained by the Steelers rush D and forced to throw...not good. What will hurt the Steelers is Big Ben nursing that high ankle sprain and also missing Clark their DB who doesn't play in the high altitude because of a rare blood disease. Steelers win it with big time D and big passing plays. Steelers 31 - Broncos 10
The Lions and Saints: what can I say other than get ready for a high scorring game. I'm guessing the over/under will be set at 60. Both teams are pretty healthy but I think the running game that NO semi has will help keep the Detroit D in check just enough for Drew Brees to work his aerial magic. Give to the Saints at home. Saints 38 - Lions 31
Really the Falcons vs. the Giants. To me this will be an ugly game that no one outside of NY or Atlanta wants to watch. The Giants are playing pretty well lately and Atlanta's biggest blow-out win in the past few weeks was against the crappy Buccaneers team, twice. I'm going with the G-men in this game. Giants 24 - Falcons 21.

Cincy is just part of those 7, 8 and 9 win teams that are all mediocre...parity was the word used for years in the NFL, right?
Houston 24-10
Pitt at Denver. Two teams with good defenses, but neither one has an impressive offense. The game being in Denver is what makes the difference.
Denver 10-3
Detroit actually has a shot at beating New Orleans...it will be close.
Saints 42-38
Falcons are really underrated.
Atlanta 35-24

Houston 24-10 I think the Bengals are an above average team this year. Bill, take a look at who they lost to, all top D teams: Steelers (x2), Baltimore (x2), Houston, Denver, and SF. All those losses were by 1 score except for the one game Pitt beat them 35-7. Believe it or not I'd like to watch this game this weekend. I can see this game going either way but I have to go for the AFC North team...lol
Pitt at Denver. Two teams with good defenses, but neither one has an impressive offense. The game being in Denver is what makes the difference.
Denver 10-3 I guess anything can happen and may but I just can't see Denver pulling out a W here unless they don't turn the ball over and create a lot of TOs. If the weather is crappy and it turns into a running game I think Denver can do it because their running game is much better than the Steelers.

This weekend is really tough, there is my heart and my head...
NO vs SF
The Saints have the capability of comebacks, the Niners do not. Once the Saints take the lead the game is over!
Denver vs NE
Oh yeah, I have Tebowmania. His throwing motion is unorthodox and he has yet to be able to thread a needle in a defensive secondary but he pulls out game after game. Today, unfortunately, it stops. I will be rooting for the Broncos, as this is the game that I have been waiting all week for...but the Pats win.
Giants vs GB
I do not think I have heard one NY talking-head say that the Giants will lose...add me to it. Giants in a huge upset!
Houston vs Balt.
If Schaub was in there this would be a Houston win. If Schaub was there this game will possibly me in Texas. No Schaub and the game in Baltimore means that the Ravens win.

Giants got lucky. Go Pats
I beg to differ - Pats are the lucky ones. If the Ravens had receivers that could catch the ball when it hits them right in the stomach - Pats are sitting at home for the Super Bowl. Or if the Ravens had a plackicker that could make a chip shot of a field goal, Pats again might have lost in OT.
Fortunately, the G-Men have receivers that catch the ball, at least lately, and do not miss chip shot field goals.
Defense wins championships - and the Pats can't stop a nose bleed.

The giants did score. More points than the niners. They faced an excellent defense. They did what they had to and scored on both turnovers. The giants offense played better that the niners offense. Two big plays was all the had. Even so i give credit to the big plays. Let not forget the giants defense had Smith running for his life when he passed the ball. Take the two big plays away and he had 10 completions for 97 yards.

Well I only played Semi Pro Ball after College and HS, so maybe what I saw wasn't what actually happened. And I rarely played offense except to just go up the middle like a buffoon and get crushed. I was a much better S Safety.. The Patriots should have never been there in the First place either and frankly, neither should have the Giants. But Luck is Luck.
My Family is from New England , and the Pats are in my Division. This isnt the First time Ive seen the Giants take a win they were lucky to have.
Thank God for Scott Norwood...Laces Out!
To be honest, I dont watch much football these days. I hate the Mind numming high bandwidth signals masked by Commercials...Most who played Pro as you did, and Semi pro as I, dont get as excited as those who didnt, because we know EXACTLY what we are watching. And for a "Player" Its agony to watch a game you cant play in.
What Pro Organization did you play for? Was it NFL?
