I have been getting occasional outbreaks of what looks like a fungus. So far it only effects Cyps and Paracyps and it's usually holding females that get it. It has occurred in 4 different isolated tanks.

It starts out as a kinda white blotch, almost like the scales are missing. I have used nitrofurazone without success (I thought I used it too late).

The other day I found a female with very early signs of the disease, so I isolated her and started treatment. Over the last 5 days and two doses she is much worse. I thought by identifying the symptoms early and treating immediately I could save this one, but it looks like I misdiagnosed it since the fungicide (Jungle Fungus Clear) had no effect.

Here are the best pics I could get, sorry about the quality. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Spooky, I have always found fungus infections very difficult to treat. They are usually secondary infections. Methylene blue seems to work the best but it can harm the biological filtration.

Have you tried salt?

I have had fungus on several occations and have found by adding more salt to the water than what I already use in my tanks, it clears up in a couple of days.

So you guys think it's a fungus too?
Secondary infection sounds right to me.
I'll add some salt, I don't usually add any to the water.
When I change out the water again I will try methylene blue...if she is still alive.
Thanks for the input!
