View Full Version : Quick Geophagus Shots
Snapped a few quick shots for IDing purposes. Figured I might as well slap 'em up here too..
I think Geos might just be the perfect cichlid.

They look like the fish sold in the past as G. megasema but now known as G. sp. "Tapajos II".
Do you know the collection location? That could help pinpoint their true identity...

Stunners, Pete. Someday, I'd like to get together a group of geos.
Thanks for posting them up! :beerchug:
The collection location was Shark Aquarium :D
They had them listed as Surinamensis, which of course I knew before I purchased them that they weren't. Two MFKers figure Abalios.

Baltimore aquarium in maryland has a nice collection of Geo's in their amazon exhibit.
Thx all. Although really these shots aren't the best and don't show the fish off very well.
Right now the tank is barebottom as the Geos are just growing out. They're only in a 6'x18" tank and I want to keep it as clean as possible, which is why there's no gravel. I do know Geos sift and keep gravel clean very effectively but just feel the tank is too small right now, I'd really like something maybe 8'x2' for them.
Those shots are only a few months old but the fish have actually been developing quite rapidly lately and some of them have some nice length on their fins now, I should try to get some better pics or a short video.

Why no substrate?
It's a growout situation. Cleaner easier.
