Just a follow up to my shipping thread. After hemming and hawing about shipping in this weather, I did an experiment Sunday when I packed my shipping container with everything except the fish and left it in my closed truck for the entire day while I was out. I put a thermometer in one of the bags with 78 degree water. One ice pack was taped to the inside of the foam lid. At 10 AM after about 10 minutes the interior temp of my truck was already 92 and I'm sure it got hotter in there later. I returned later and at 8 PM I removed the box and the temperature was 82, which I felt was acceptable, especially because at that point the ouside temp was dropping so it would have peaked already. So I went ahead and packaged the 13 Acei yesterday, 100% new water(well), bag buddies & no O2, and sent them USPS Express. All arrived in excellent condition and the buyer stated that they showed absolutely no signs of stress:runnningaround:! So thank you to all who helped for the suggestions and input:beerchug:!

I try to tell anoyone that breeds fish they should learn how to ship. Anthony is correct that you will get better at it.... You learn how to ship certain species better than others... learn what temps work and don't work. How to bag properly...
And.. this opens you up to so many more buyers.... I like to keep oddball tangs, which there is no way for me to get rid of the fry locally most of the time. Now you have the entire US :)
Glad they all made it and glad all the advice was good!

Thank you Sarah. I did what seemed like endless searching, reading, and asking questions, probably almost to a fault!:typing:
I'd like to try some odd, or maybe not as mainstream, species as well. As much for the challenge of raising them as for selling them. As you said, being able to ship opens so many more doors.
