When Larry Bird was on the Celtics I would root for them year after year.
The mid-80's teams were the best, deepest, teams I have ever seen.
Bird, Parrish, McHale, DJ, Ainge, Maxwell, Carr, Buckner etc.

Personal problems aside, I think that Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest players ever (behind Jordan, Bird, Magic and Russell). All of the "LeBron" talk is, IMO, annoying...Kobe is better than LeBron!

I love the fact, as well, that Kobe is doing it without Shaq.

One of the most enlightening and entertaining shows (documentary) on the rivalry -- and subsequent friendship -- between Larry Bird and Magic Johnson was done by HBO. I watched it twice b/c the first time, I missed the first 15 minutes. If you can ever watch it, I highly recommend doing so.

Wilt chamberlain average more triple doubles than
any other player... before the stats were kept.
average 50 pts per game for a year and 25+ rebounds pg.
And averaged 35+ rebounds per game against Bill and the Celtics and they still could not win.
And even hold the record for most rebounds in a game 55 also against the Celts and still could not win.
The additional stats of blocked shots per game were not kept
and he was a great man passing the ball to the open man
when they triple teamed him.... He did not have an all star
cast like Bill (hall of famers at least 2 HOF every year Bill played).
He would get his points against the Celtics, but he did not have nearly as much help as Bill had with his team mates.
All mentioned great players but Chamberlain was way ahead of his time. Lets not forget 100 points vs the Knicks
and the Knicks were not bums back then, unlike today....
Heck with all of the Stars on the Celts and the HOF I could haved taken Bill out of the lineup and used someones grandmother and still come close to winning a championship.

The only year Wilt nearly had that much support was when he went to the lakers, he had Jerry West.... the gun slinger...
Elgin Baylor just retired that year.....
