Today I heard a commercial on the radio with the premise of it being fish-focused. :runnningaround:

It was about 3G network, and the concept was that a guy was looking to add fish to his aquarium (saltwater), and he couldn't get a lionfish b/c it would eat the others, he couldn't get an angler fish b/c it would be eaten, and he couldn't get a clown fish b/c he didn't want one. So he used his AT&T network to call a pet store and in the end he was happy he was able to get the right fish...... it went something like that.

I was jumping for joy when I heard that commercial!
I think anything that uses our hobby in the media helps to promote fish keeping.

A few years ago, I was on the phone chatting with David Boruchowitz, TFH Editor, discussing ideas to promote the hobby. One I offered for the magazine was to write up articles/features on celebrities who kept fish, like an article every other month or so, on some famous person (athlete, actor, etc) who kept fish in her/his home.... what they kept, size of tank, get a story line, show pictures, etc. I thought it might help others to see our hobby as "really cool" and that might spark an interest in them keeping fish.

I know for example, I always get excited when a TV show or a film has a fish tank as part of the living room, or something like that. Just seeing a tank in a film, even slightly, always makes me shout out, LOOK THEY KEEP FISH! :becky:

Anyway, David shot down my idea :sad-smiley-002: but I still get excited when I see or hear fish being used in the media.

The radio commercial today had me on :cloud9:

The funny thing is that every time you see a fish tank in an action show, you just know it is going to be shot or broken.

As long as..........

as the hobby continues to grow that the fish being bought are farm raised and tank raised instead of wild caught.

Then I'm all for it.
