Will they help control the fry population in my tank?

In a 265g I do not think Syno's of any type would be able to keep the tank "fry free".
Although very unorthodox, I would think about adding a medium sized Calvus.
I once had one in a tank with Daffs and there were no fry at all...when I took it out the fry were all over the place.

But jeez Calvus are so boring.
Just one or do I need a few?
I'm going to be pushing 75 fish not including the catfish.

I find the multipunctatus do a better job at fry control than the Calvus or the Lucipinnis.

With 75 fish in the tank, I wouldn't worry about too many fry surviving. Synodontis lucipinnis do not grow very large. However, they will eat fry if they can fit them in their mouths. If you want fry control, add an eel to the tank. Just make sure the tank is well covered to prevent escapes.

The group of Daffs that I had bred like nuts, even with the Multi's in there.

Yeah but Daffs are the satanic equivalent in the fish world.
They could fend off a Great White Shark.
I think Joe had a good point. A lot of fish and the fry probably won't survive.
