I'm looking for suggestions for a tank setup for the auction raffle. Sizes, filters, stands, etc.

Keep in mind that we do not want to bring in a tank over four feet in length. We would like people who do not have a SUV/pickup to be able to join in.

(In a preemptive strike for GreyD- we know the Mets tanked it the last two years. :wail:)

How about the biggest four foot tank then, a 120g 4ftx2ftx2ft?

What about one of these:

Might be too big for somebody with a car. We would like to include a nice wood stand which would make it more difficult for that size tank.

If your feel'in lucky, you make sure you bring a big enough vehicle or, there could be a quick side sale. My services and vehicle could be made available for the right price:bandit:

For a second there I thought you beat my high score, had to check real quick.

I say a 75Gal, I could squeeze another one in the room.

2 1/2 gallon set up. That's probably the only size tank that most of us have room for. LOL!

I think this is the only size I would not get killed for.
I think a nice 30L or one of thoses all in one tanks would be nice to see. Hell I might be able to those in my car.... maybe

Maybe the Stand can be flat packed like an Ikea package and you can assemble once you get home.

Well John, I intend to win it so it's a moot point.

Hopefully if people know that there will be a decent sized tank they will bring an appropriate vehicle or as in your case have a friend tag along.

36" in length x 18" wide. I saw one set up in a store this evening. Real nice.

The price of a 50g set up these days is prohibitive and since it is purchased(not donated) we may have to forgo this set up and go to a standard 55g.
The feeling is that we would lose money with the 50g and we would at least like to break even.
Perhaps after an auction or two when when we have additional monies available, we can splurge a bit.

how about a 40 Breeder?

AlishanAS
03-15-2009, 11:44 PM
The new tank set up for the raffle will be a 65gallon.

Please note that the setup is NOT a donation and we have to put cash up for it.

What are the dimensions of the 65 gallon?

joe_jaskot
03-16-2009, 10:42 AM
A standard 65 gallon tank is 36 3/8" X 18 3/8" X 25" (Same footprint as a 30, 40 and 50 breeder, only taller).

I picked up the tank set up from Adam's Pet Safari yesterday. Thanks to Adam for ordering it.

The set up includes the 65g tank with oak molding, oak stained pine stand,
glass versa top, oak grain double strip light, 40lbs Afican cichlid sand, heater, Emporer 400 filter(Thanks Joe Jaskot) and maybe a few other accoutrements.

I believe the tickets will be priced $5.00ea / 5 for $20.00.

Bring lots of cash. I will. :)

OK.. so I really need to win this Tank. The only way Jeff will agree to another tank is if I win the raffle...:sigh: I already have it planned out too. I am going to put my EBJDs in the new tank and take their current tank and convert it into SA... I got my eye on some Apistos! :woot:

Just another thought... IF there were two tanks for raffle and I bought all the tickets for the one, I would have to win it, right???? LMAO

foamerdave

If I come home with a tank I will get killed. So if I win start making offers

CichlidWhisperer
03-31-2009, 03:42 PM
Hmmm... so if you win, but I buy the winning ticket from you instead of the tank, then I won it right?????:coz:

Dave...depends on how many tickets you buy...i'll double the amount you spend on your tickets
