Did anyone else see "Taken" starring Liam Neeson? I felt it made the Jason Bourne series not only look silly but like childrens play...
As one reviewer on IMDB.com put it,:
A no nonsense, kick the crap out of everyone who gets in your way action movie. Liam Neeson's character is the angry love child of Bourne,Bond and all the other pretenders put together.
The theatrical trailer and a fan-made trailer, respectively:

I just found this gem...
THE MOVIE TAKEN... shortened to 2mins53seconds.... It's all the best parts of the best action scenes all clumped together... I can't tell you how much I laughed watching this... It's just so insane... As someone on youtube said, "people who think Chuck Norris is the most dangerous person alive are funny".
WARNING! THIS VIDEO CONTAINS MANY SPOILERS, though it will NOT reduce your ability to enjoy the movie...

The action was good , Liam was great.
And the scary ,creepy world of human trafficking. I will never let my Daughter go overseas even when she's fifty.

I watched it way before it was released here in the USA... I liked it and make it a "mandatory" to watch for my daughters... ;-P
Remember the fighting sequence at the boat, the bad guy is using a karambit? Thought the choreography doesn't really show the proper use of the karambit... but it was fun to watched nevertheless.

There was a guy on IMDB discussion boards (the discussion boards there are a joke... (90-something percent of the topics are 'is this movie racist?' 'this movie sux yo' 'this movie is anti-[insert anything here]') who made a topic stating that Taken was a huge insult to France, the French, and that it is unrealistic that the movie is portrayed as having human trafficking there and that it would've been better if it was in some african country.
NOT MAKING THAT UP. That guy really said that they should've portrayed the movie in Africa. Yet another idiot posting a topic making ridiculous claims without really knowing anything they are talking about. I am sure there are underground human trafficking organized crime businesses in France. Hell, what do you call MOST prostitution? That is actually depicted in the movie Taken by the way. They get women addicted to hardcore drugs so they can never leave the business.
And
Firstly, Taken was written AND directed by French people. Second, trafficking happens in ALL countries even here in the United States to this day. It's also very big in Latin America (as depicted in the movie 'Man on Fire').
Lastly... In my opinion, the reason why it was portrayed as being a French trafficking group was to show that it can happen ANYWHERE.
Of course instead of showing us a documentary they gave us one of the most insane action and drama and revenge stories of all time, but they could've easily have had it based in an Eastern Europe, Asia, African, Australasia, Latin America location instead. They chose a country like France where no one visiting would really think twice about their safety (as far as being kidnapped by human traffickers and sold as sex slaves) compared to visiting a country like Zimbabwe, RURAL and Juarez (especially) Mexico, Colombia, and so on...

Did you see it at a special screening?
The fighting sequence on the boat was INSANE... One guy with a handgun overpowers like 20 armed guards with machine guns...
After seeing Taken, I do hope they cast him again in another action movie... I was shocked he didn't get any acting nominations... He was extremely believable in that movie...
