So, has anybody seen a Vic attach the buccal sac of a mouthbrooder? I have an injured cyp who appears to have had her buccal cavity ripped out, and I did have at least one holding female in the tank. The culprit was a male Uganda Fire who was healing up from his beating from the alpha male. Ir, do you think she hurt herself on a rock or something? :coz:

She's eating and swimming, and the wound looks like it's healing, but I'm thinking i need to tear apart the tank to get that Vic out... :mad2:

I've seen it more than once , but it's always a female cyp that gets abused. I've mentioned in posts that a female cyp holding is maybe the weakest fish you can have in a tank. Weak jaw, soft body and too weak to use the only thing that they do have speed. There's a reason they school.

It sounds like yours will recover, none of mine where quite that lucky. They were found dead jaw mangled, fry gone. It wasn't until I saw it actually happening that I figured out what happenend to the first few. The attacher was an mbuna.
