Depends on the water quality. You can always add some melafix. It helps heal wounds quickly.

Sounds like your new friend will be well taken care of. Has he started begging for food yet?

Gut feeling, the oscars will eat or harrass the dithers to death regardless of agression

Silver dollars are good dither fish....Tinfoil Barbs too....Larger non aggressive cichlids like Chocolates, Peacock Bass, Parrots (The Real Ones) Jack Dempseys, Kraussi Snooks..... Some people I know have kept Green Terrors with them I am not to sure about that... They may or may not get along...Geo Brasilinesis too if you can get big ones might do.. Oscars are lovers more than fighters or should I say eaters lol!!! DO not put in Dovii, Umbies, Feaste or anything like that....They will kick the crap out of them lol!!
Silver Dollars and Tinfoils are too fast and can out maneuver them...kind of like a Spitfire vs a Henkiel.......They will be some bossing around but there should be not be a lot of head banging.......
