Get well Ryan!
Great thing you're getting this taken care of now though while you're young... It'd be a nightmare when you're older.

Get well soon Ryan. The recovery will not come as fast as you want it to but do what the Dr.s say and you'll be back (no pun intended) in no time. My brother had Scoliosis surgery when he was 16 and that was 19 years ago if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the support everyone, it really means a lot to me.
Everyday I wake up and my mind is like, "Get up, its time to go get stuff done!" ... but then my body says, "HAHA, you are not going anywhere."
My 16 year old body is slowly healing though, today I had my 1st shower in 8 days.. man, did that feel good. It took me a good 10 minutes, but I also managed to put my boxers on by myself.:runnningaround:
I woke up from the surgery with nerve damage to my tongue and throat from the tube that was placed down it, and I'm not able to eat or speak properly, but the steroids im on should fix the problem in the next week or so.
All I want to do take care of my fish and reptilian friends, but for now i am stuck on my couch watching TV, with my lap top, and living off of a variety of pain medicine and water.
Thanks again everyone, Ryan :ty:

Glad to hear your recuperating! I have to point out that your current lifestyle (tv, drugs, couch) sounds like a decent vacation! :neener:
Yeah- I know, it's no fun after the first day when the drugs are quite taking the edge off the pain. But, it'll get better- soon you can have jello through a straw, right?

Ryan, when you are better Tom and I will stop by (Tom will buy me breakfast first) to see you.
I'm very disappointed in only 18 responses from ECC folks....very disappointed.
Do you mean that the other 130+ that use this site on a regular basis are too busy to wish someone well?
YES, I am laying out a scolding here.

Stop proselytizing Ed!!
He already has Randall forcing him to keep West African and SA dwarves.
Ryan is one of the few CA cichlid keepers here. We need that diversity. :becky:
Hey Ryan -need any Black Belt Vieja? I picked up a bunch of 2" fish at the DCAS auction on the cheap.

Ryan, what are they saying your recovering time is, if you don't mind me asking. My brother was around a year befor he really could do anything. They wouldn't let him lift any more than a school book for the first few months. After a year they let him play basketball and then in the fall after that he was released to play football. Hang in there man.

Just let me know when you and Tom are around, Bill. I'm out of school and work for a while so theres plenty of time for a visit. :ty:
It is going to be around 6 months before i'll be able to begin lifting anything more than 10 pounds. :sad-smiley-002: Right now the only physical activity I can do on my own is walk, but hopefully I can begin lifting small weights to keep my arm strength up.
Tom - How many V. maculicauda do you have?:becky:
