A few years ago I bought playsand at Home Depot for use in my tank.
I remember it was aragonited based.

So now I will need a lot more and I'm not sure where to get it these days.
I checked HD and Lowes and both have the Quickrete branded playsand, is that good?
The other brand that HD has says not for use in aquariums.

Since I'm going to mix it with the current sand does can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Ted, HD sells two types of playsand...one in the Building Materials section and one in Seasonal.
The sand that is in Seasonal is a few cents more, but IMO better.

I just starting using the sackret multipurpose sand. I really like it. I also has little pepples mixed in to the sand but is mostly sand. It is usually right next to the playsand. The color is lighter as well which I liked better

Pool filter sand is a lot cleaner than HD play sand. I have used both but not anymore.

I have quikrete sand in my 29 growout in the DIY if you would like to get the idea what it looks like. I like the way it looks, but i think it would look better if the little pebbles were strained out.
