so when i first got my mbuna tank set up i knew nothing and luckily they are tough as nails and handled the cycle just fine.now i have a 10g im trying to get cycled.it has a couple of danios in it with a sponge filter and a little cheap hob(use it for circulation mostly).for the last 3 weeks i keep having ammonia show up on my testing but no nitrites (havent tested for nitrates probably should).so i guess my question is how long before i begin to see the cycle in my testing? im doing regular water changes feed sparingly also have some amguard so the fish dont get sick.any input is appreciated!!!:ty:

Are you cleaning the filter? I don't typically clean the filter or do too much in the way of water changes during a tank cycle.
Sometimes being ovezealous with cleanings, water changes, etc. can slow down the cycling process.

ALso, is your testing equipment up to date? If it's old, it may not be giving you accurate readings.

I agree completely with her advice. If you have a HOB running for circulation in the 10, here is something you could also try.

Vac the gravel in your mbuna tank (perfect excuse for a water change in there right?)

Place the sponge from the 10G in the pail of dirty waste water from the mbuna tank. Let the sponge run a day (or even longer if you want) in that pail.

The sponge should pick up enough crud and bacteria to load it up. Than put it in your ten, you should observe better levels when you now test the 10
