There are usually some good fish at this auction, however they are notoriously pricey. Last year I met Artie and Rachel there

I just 'map quest-ed' the location and it is 2 hours from me -- all through NY and CT. I will have to get my husband to teach me how to pump gas before Sunday, b/c my car will never make it up and back on one tank.

I've done ALOT of things in the name of having fish.... but learning to pump gas might be one of the biggest challenges.

Easy. First you pop open the gas tank cover. Then you unscrew the gas refilling cap. Then you press whatever octane gas you desire. Don't forget to put the gas nozzle in the fuel refuelling pipe. Then you just start pumping untill it's full . Alesia don't forget to remove the credit card

Yes, well, years ago when someone tried to teach this to me, I don't know what I did wrong, but I ended up spilling gas all down the front of my jeans.

"lovely"

But, moot point, as YAY! someone was kind enough to offer me a ride.
So now I get to be the 'designated passenger'

I was going to say hi at Atlantis, but you stood in the first aisle talking to Tim for half the time we were there...and staring at a tank of the ugliest fish in the whole facility LOL....I would have given you the business had you bought them

j/k

Hope to see you at NEC, or at Atlantis. I do want to meet a few more of you guys from this board. Never met Joe either. Just chicken legs Artemis.

See, here in Jersey, that phrase takes on a totally different meaning. We say something like that about burying the bodies of our enemies in the Meadowlands. LOL

Le't see...Tim and I spoke for about 20 minutes. That day was the first time I met him -- we all met very early for breakfast, before Atlantis opened. Funny, polite, kind…Tim is a class act. I enjoyed my chat with him immensely. Maybe he and I chatted for half the time YOU were there... I was at Atlantis from opening to closing.

As for the tank of fish, sorry but I don’t know which ones you mean. Africans are totally new to me and I am still learning about them all before I purchase any. But honestly, I’ve never been one to worry or care what someone else thinks about any fish I keep.

See ya Sunday--

My son and I went to the NEC today, we had a good time there. Besides running into some of the members of the club we belong to (NECA). We went and saw Larry johnson talk about swiming with Malawians, some of the fish he had pictures of are beautiful. It makes me want to convert my 70 from CA to African's. Maybe down the road or I will have to get another tank, I like the other tank better. My wife might kill me tho. :runnningaround: We are going to the auction tomorrow.

Good day at NEC!
Saw Bill who always makes me laugh. Saw my favorite blonde ice cream eating lady, who of course was looking good, met Brian- who is cool, met Lee who is a great guy...couldnt find the D head who sold me the leaking tank at an auction a few weeks ago- which is a positive thing because I dont need the temptation to get into trouble LOL

I picked up 7 tang killies- Lamprichthys Tanganicus

I got home in time to watch the US drop the gold metal in hockey in OT, but I did manage to reseal that leaking tank that Richie Noggin sold me- so I should have that up and waiting for fish next weekend.
Look forward to see you guys and more next weekend at Atlantis

Thanks! That is so sweet. :beerchug:

Sorry I didn't stay longer at the auction, but a group of F1 X. ochrygenys popped up and I spent my wad on them. I'd been up late the entire weekend at the convention, so I headed home to spend time with my lonely wife. It was nice seeing everyone. Gave Lee the ECC card that Bill gave me since I already had about 400 from the ACA convention. I hope Lee beat you on the draw with the card Bill.

Hope we see you all at Atlantis next weekend on the 6th.

I cannot stress the importance of joining your local (or semi-local) fish club.
We have some great clubs on the East Coast and, IMO, everyone here should support at least one. These clubs are what make weekends like this past one happen.

Now there's something on which we can all agree, right Flareside?!
:becky: :becky: :becky:

Seriously, I would never even be here on ECC if not for knowing Tom through my home club, NJAS. As some of you know, I initially joined my club for reasons ...um....other than fish ;) and while my 'other reasons' did not work out, what did, was that I got turned on to fish and have never looked back! I've met FAB-U-LOUS folks who have been so kind to me, developed true friendships, and really enjoy spending time every month hanging with fish folks, hearing speakers, having auctions, etc.

NorthEast Council (NEC) is composed of something like 12-15 clubs and it's through fish clubs that I've been able to go on collecting trips, write for fish magazines, heard about and attended ACAs, etc. (clubs also host the ACA and I think NJAS has hosted two as well).

My club is also VERY big into putting on fish shows, and that's a whole other segment of the hobby that some folks love. They're weekend long events, and I get to meet other hobbyists I never would otherwise. I've also scribed for many judges, and I've learned so much about different fish that way. It's all so cool.

I am on-record of supporting everything that supports our hobby, and fish clubs are really a solid arm of the hobby. And fish clubs TRULY need support from hobbyists. So yeah, this cheerleader is echoing Bill's comment big time!

Plus, as I said, it's how I ultimately came to ECC, and am now getting to know you guys!
