View Full Version : Real 300g This Time
So the last time I said I was getting a 300 gal it was just a stock tank. This time it's for real.. Picked this puppy up this morning (below).
8'x3'x2'. 1" thick Acrylic (total overkill), black acrylic back.
Already cleaned it up somewhat (was a saltwater tank). It'll be heading to the basement where, after a little plumbing, it'll be housing my Motoro.
Not bad, tank plus stand $600.

Ummmm, yeah, I was looking to see if you were paying attention.:croc:
Either rays or 2 dozen tetra. Haven't quite decided.

I would go with neons and Endlers myself.
The rays would probably like if I did both in the tank at once :croc:

Awesome deal!
That tops my (in my opinion) deal I got for a 125g and 75g for $150 with lights and filters...
A lil' progress though not much to see. Tank has made its way to the basement and is now located in place of the 125 the rays are in, which moved to the back. Both those other two tanks are 125s to give a bit of perspective. Added a bead of Weld-On around the overflow boxes, which weren't watertight. Hopefully getting some plumbing done today/tomorrow.

NICE!
I sooo love big tanks.
I remember when I thought my 90 was big....then the 150...then the 225....now, they all seem too small!
Good luck with the tank!
Pics for sure as it comes along!
Saturday evening. Went to fill it to the top. One leaking bulkhead in the top row. Empty enough to reseat it. Refill. Still leaking.
Sunday am get new bulkhead. Fill to top with hot water to get it up to temperature. Water is darkish and cloudy. There'd been a mains break near me early last week so I've just filled my tank up with muck that'd been lying in wait in my hot water heater.
Sunday evening. Run one pump to check the return/overflow plumbing, run 325watts of heat to see how that goes (basement is 60f or so). No leaks :)
Monday am. Temperature is up at 76.6, not bad :) Start draining tank to get rid of dirty water.
Monday evening. Tank is empty again. Empty hot water heater, flush through, refill hot water heater.
Tuesday evening??? Maybe actually get it full of clean warm water and running again? If so, rays could be moving Wednesday :beerchug:
Awesome! A bit of a rocky start, but it will definitely be worth the effort when the rays get in there. :)

Just think of it all as "labor of love"
Once it is set and running and your rays are in, you won't even remember all the
I'm so excited for you! Can't wait to see it when it comes together.
It will rock!

Would it be wrong for me to say the only time I'll be able to have a tank like that is in a wet dream?

Stop holding back Pete!
Holding back until I find somewhere that sells 3/16" glass in this bloody state. But the rays have been in there since Wednesday.
