I have a 12 Gallon Bio Cube and I've had a striped damsel in there along with some other fish and corals. Today I introduced a new blue fin damsel and the striped damsel is going after it like crazy. Now, its fins are frayed and I'm not sure if it would make it through the night. I made a little floating breeder type trap out of a soup container but I can't keep him in there forever. I'm looking for suggestions on what to do. Please help. He was a Christmas gift for my girlfriend. I would hate to have him die. She would be quite upset. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Introducing new salt fish is harder then cichlids. In a 12 gallon nano I dont even think rearranging is going to stop that striped damsel from killing the new one. The only chance you might have is to catch the striped damsel and keep him in a net breeder for a few days or till the other one heals a little.

Ah. Alright. I did some rearranging and it didn't seem to help. I have the blue fin damsel in a breeder now but I will switch them and maybe that might work out. The blue fin seems to be doing fine on its own in the breeder. Thanks for the suggestion.

Dawg, damsel's are incredibly territorial in a twelve I don't think it's gonna work out. Sorry Bush

I agree. Damselfish are territorial and some are highly aggressive. I would go with the smaller less agressive fish such as clown gobies and firefish.

Putting two damsel's in the same tank is like putting two male beta's in the same tank one is going to die for sure. They do good with clown fish though. I had a pair of clowns and a yellow tail damsel in a 20g that did very well with each other

Thanks for the help. I'm new to the salt so I got some knowledge to get up on.
