I live in North Brunswick and back in my days before fish sites like this i would go to Animal and Things... it was ok some times quality of fish was better than others..But i feel like i am probably unaware or many other great spots. I know many posts about different ones but how about lets list the ones you support and feel you can trust for fish or supplies...
Thanks

I live in Lehigh Valley, PA and just went to a place called American Aquarium in Orefeild, PA and he has a selection of peacocks like I have never seen before! He just spent $5K for this load of peacock that are incredible!

Absolutely Fish in Clifton, NJ. And my favorite, Pet Shanty in Scotch Plains, NJ. They are not overly close to me, but within an hour's drive one way.

PS supplies online only. The above for tanks and fish.

I get depressed every time a thread like this starts because their are no good one's at all near me unless you are into Hybrids or sick fish I always take all day road trips if I want good quality fish but that is the other part of the hobby I have been all over the place for fish or equipment what an Adventure :car:

Atlantis! THey're 2.5 hours from me but worth the drive everytime. The Thruway up there is pretty scenic too with all the mountains...especially in the winter with the frozen winter waterfalls next to the highway (from snow melt, then refroze...waterfalls aren't there in the warmer months (except maybe when it rains I guess?).

Otherwise for in NJ... The only LFS I've been to so far that I liked was Adams Pet Safari. VERY nice selection of fish there, reasonable prices as well. I'd say at least 75% of the fish they had were quality fish...which is awesome for a LFS...

The two WORST LFS's I have been to in NJ....
Tropiquarium, (PM me or fischfan13 for why)
and Pet Asylum in Brick Township, NJ. This one was pathetic... Only like 6 tanks, and all are way overpriced for basic tropical fish...

A few weeks back I stopped by the Shark Aquarium, and it is one of my favorite lfs in NJ.
Today, after lunch with my son, we stopped by Absolutely Fish. A few beautiful Aulonocara and Venustus and some stunning Salt Water livestock to look at.
Lunch stole the show...

I have to agree that Pet Shanty and Adams Pet Safari(the Chester store, not the Warren one) are two of the best I've been to. Absolutely Fish was nice too, but my visit was short, so I can't give a full assessment until I go again someday.

Tick Tock diner:

Did someone say TICK TOCK DINER?

I have a “thing” for diners, Tick Tock being one of my fav.
Larry Jinks, hope you see this post. I will meet you there any time for some Tick Tock Chicken!

Okay, back to the topic:
Not in any order but my top pics (and all supporter of fish clubs btw) are:
- Absolutely Fish, Clifton NJ
- Shark Aquarium, Hillsdale, NJ & Pet Shanty Scotch Plain, NJ (I always think of them together b/c I always seem to make it a twosome when I go). George from Shark used to also organize collecting trips to SA, don’t know if he still does, I will have to ask him. Would personally love to do a collecting trip any where outside of the USA.
- Kazimirs in Hackensack, NJ which is a 50+ year old pet shop, and has a small fish section but they are a class act and family run biz. HUGE supporter of NJAS. Fabulous write up in Jan TFH by Tony and Rose Orso on this shop. Not a big selection of Africans though.
- Adam’s Pet Safari, Chester NJ

Jeez, I am rambling, aren’t I? SORRY! I am sure there is a smiley for that but I can’t find it.

No, it just seems that way 'coz we're louder than most .........:becky:

Can't say for Long Island, but in Nanuet, Pets Place II is pretty good. They typically have some pretty cool catfish for sale.
