I think the best horror movie ever made is 1982 s The Thing with Kurt Russel.

I know we have the Pinheads , the Freddie Krugers and the Mike Myers and all but if there is any place in horror SCI-FI I would not want to be . it's cold, it's the Arctic and no-one's coming to help.

Lots of good horror movies: Silence of the Lambs (one of the best films of all time), Carrie (I still jump when the hand comes out of the grave at the end of the movie), Psycho (a classic in its time), The Shining (Here's Johnny), The Exorcist (still gives me the creeps), Stephen King's It (gives me the willies) and last but not least Michael Jackson's Thriller (the best music video of all time).

One of my fav categories of movies
(good sci-fi / horror), but rather than vote for my
#1 pick (too hard for me), I will instead list my
#1 all time fav SPOOF on these types of movies:

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Hey Tom.... remember my email? How cool is that,
within a month I got to combine my love of
fish, Monty Python, and now RHPS.

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Best thing about this show is the audience participation which admittedly is a hoot. I tried watching the show on its own in my living room and it lost a lot of its "charm" without flying weiners, toast & man made rain hitting you in the head.

Do Traces/Faces of Death count as horror movies?

Umm I hate to burst your bubble but kurt russel's version was the remake.

The original was made 1951 and the role of The Thing was played by a relatively unkown actor named james Arness who went on the star as Marshall Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke. The film's original title was "The Thing from Another World."

I agree 100%... I want to point out that it is the original Exorcist that is best... I haven't even bothered to watch the remake since it both wasn't necessary and the original was already amazing.... I have some additions though:

Grindhouse Pt 1+2 (death proof and planet terror)

28 Days Later

28 Weeks Later

Shaun of the Dead (best horror comedy ever)

Red Dragon (prequel to Silence of the Lambs. Awesome movie, very creepy...just as much as Silence of the Lambs in my opinion)

Aliens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best Alien horror movie ever, and best SEQUEL ever made!

Arachnophobia.... I haven't seen this in YEARS but when I saw it when I was a little kid it scared the **** out of me... I don't know if it is still any good now that I'll have to pull out my old VHS of it...

Dead Calm <---Sam Niel, Nicole Kidman, and Billy Zane at their best

Frankenstein and Young Frankenstein (the originals)

The Omen (the original)

Jaws (this movie ruined my childhood vacations to Long Beach Island, NJ...)

My bubbles not bursted I don't like the original I love the remake. My dad alway's loved this genre so there's not many oldies I'm not familiar with.
