Anybody know anything about these? Are they monogamous, polygamous, peaceful or aggressive, carnivore, omnivore, herbivore, etc?

Or have any suggestions of other Madagascan cichlids they would live and breed in a 75g or a 60g?

A meek and mild temprament. I would keep them in a single species tank, perhaps adding some dithers. When my menerambo were young, I tried keeping a few katria in their 6 foot tank with them. The menerambo were too much for them and unfortunately they didn't last long ( so I can't add anything to breeding discussion).

Thanks for the info. Any other Madagascar species that could fit in either a 75g or a 60g that you'd recommend to someone new to Madagascar fish as well as new to egg layers?

Sounds like Katria katria would be a good starter for now though...

If I keep them, what do they demand in tank decor, substrate, water quality, lighting, plants, food, etc?

Tap water last time I bothered testing pH was 6 or less, I believe the water was inbetween hard and soft (haven't tested water for hardness in a while and forgot how the scale goes). The only buffers I have is for my Malawi tanks and that buffers it up to 8.6. If it is necessary to keep Madagascar fish in neutral pH, would just crushed coral or aragonite in the filter be enough to buffer it up?

Oh, and could I fit these in a 75g or a 60g? Like a pair or a trio or something?
