I visited a LFS yesterday and spent a few shekels. It's The Fish Factory, a medium size store right down the road from Hidden Reef.
It's owned by a good guy named Roy who also owns Aquatech, a fish tank /pond maintenance business.

I picked up a half dozen Corydoras blochi (not a cory that you see too often), a couple of small orandas for my daughter's tank, a L200 green phantom pleco(only 24.99, not bad for a store), a group of small unidentified danios. These fish had a group of vertical lines about half the body length followed by an orange streak that went to the caudal peduncle. Some of the fins were also tinged with orange. I'll have to ask Mark to ID them one day.
I also purchased a Royal gramma and a bi-color blenny for my SW tank.

The store carries a lot of common tropicals, some not too common(at least for LFS) African cichlids and a few oddballs such as the ones I purchased.

I think it's important to spend money in stores such as these. We don't want the superstores to completely take over.

Good location also. Right next to Club Risque. :beerchug: :becky:

I agree Tom, though I rarely purchase any of thier Livestock there's always the odds and ends. And that I'm Greeted fondly by Name due to the Years of continued growth in the Hobby. There's something to be said about the Personal service that your Local community shops offer that Online Shopping truely lacks.

Stopped by the Factory tonight. I figured Bill should not have all the fun today since he went to Shark Aquarium and hooked up (not in the Jersey Shore sense :becky:) with Joe Jaskot.

I picked up an African Firefish goby. The African variant appears more colorful than your normal everyday Indo firefish.

Also bought a Blue Hana goby. This is a fish I have never seen before. Muted blue coloration but a very streamline body shape with long caudal fin trailers.

And picked up another L200 pleco on the cheap.

I was going to start a new thread, but since you mentioned me...

Drove up to Shark Aquarium today.
My son, who is not into fish, had his eyes glued to two tanks:
The Blue Discus and the Guppies.

While staring at the Discus I notice another big fish...Joe Jaskot.
Joe was with Vasyl, and I quickly shot over to say hello.
For all of the ribbing that Joe gives people he is a plethora of knowledge when you are with him. Joe, Vasyl and myself all loved the Pikes in the last aisle.

After SA it was off to Pet Shanty.
I picked up some Omega One Veggie Flakes for the Yellow Murago (they refused to eat that as well when I got home). I also picked up some Mysis Shrimp for the Greenwoodochromis.

Lastly we stopped in Jimmy Buff's for a few Italian Dogs.:hungry:

Sorry for the hijack Tom.

Joe, where ya wanna meet next Saturday?:eclipsee_steering:

Joe, where ya wanna meet next Saturday? Bill, our tryst is supposed to be a secret. LOL! Nice seeing you and meeting your son, Joseph. Those pikes at Shark Aquarium were amazing but a bit expensive at $125 a pop.
