Hi Everybody,
first off wow!!!!! What a GREAT fourm this is!!!!! Tons of info and some very nice people! I don't have a tank set up yet but I'm getting there. I have a 55 and deciding what direction I want to go. I have had MANY fish in the past but never cichlids. So, if I ask a stupid question try not to laugh to hard. Trust me I have LOTS of questions :coz:. Anyway I'm leaning towards Aulonocara stuartgranti. I have been lurking around the fourm for a few days now reading as much as I can about them. Also tank mates, substrate ans so on. Any and all guidance would be appeciated! :ty:

I think it is called Flavescent Peacock? I'm interested in the all blue. Forgive me If I have that wrong. Ive been all over the internet looking at them for the past few weeks. It seems there are a few different types. It also seems that people have different names for the same fish which is even more confusing

Nice Site! THANKS!!!!!!
Funny, the Flavescent looks TOTALLY different from the one I found here http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_Aulonocara_stuartgranti.php
On the site you directed me to I like the Aulonocara stuartgranti (Chirwa Is.) or Aulonocara stuartgranti (Cobue). I understand all the color variation thing but what throws me is 2 fish same name totally different coloration? Am I missing something? :coz:

Location, location, location.
Same Aulonocara in a different locale will have slightly different colors (colorings).

Is this one of those you like?

Hi!

This is an amazing forum, for sure.
Everyone has been super helpful to us and we're just staring out (6 mos) with these beautiful Malawi Cichlids.

We had our first fry today! These guys here have helped our family so much.

I'm still asking crazy questions, lol. I haven't been thrown out yet!

Have a great weekend, and welcome to your new addiction! :becky:
